**BUILD INC SEEKS EXIT PLANNER**
Building Urban Industries for Local Development (BUILD) Inc. is an Indigenous social enterprise contractor and training program for people who face barriers to employment. A non-profit organization, BUILD is led by a majority Indigenous Board of Directors and provides award-winning approaches to creating social change.
BUILD is seeking an EXIT PLANNER to create smooth transition for trainees from BUILD’s supportive work and training environment into the labour-force.

The EXIT PLANNER establishes and manages long term relationships with relevant industry partners providing employment to BUILD trainee graduates, while working with trainees to prepare for their exit from BUILD. Trainees are individuals facing multiple barriers to employment, and are provided with entry-level trades-based training, transferable skills, vocational skills, and job preparation training.
**POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
Reporting to the Training and Support Manager, the EXIT PLANNER works in collaboration with the Training and Social Enterprise Departments and is responsible for:
**Relationship Development and Management**
- Establishing and maintaining committed partnership relationships with construction sector employers for the hiring of BUILD trainees.
- Conduct demand-based needs assessments with hiring partners to match with trainee skills sets.
- Develop protocols to support employers transitioning trainees to the work force.
- Providing referrals of trainees to hiring partners with tailored supports
- Creating and testing innovative new approaches to transitioning trainees to employment, including social procurement subcontracting relationships.
- Fostering relationships with potential employers and educational institutions.
- Providing trainee exit reports to Training and Support Manager.
**Trainee and Employer Supports**
- Liaising between hiring partners, former BUILD trainees and BUILD’s Training Department Staff for added supports during transitions, offer on-going support as needed.
- Supporting referrals for additional external support services, such as CAHRD, Citizen’s Bridge, counseling, addictions; liaising with Trainee’s Parole Officers, Case Workers and other institutional supports.
- Supporting the care planning of trainees including regular communication and follow-up on progress, with additional focus provided to those exhibiting difficulty or risks in the transition to full-time employment.
- Supporting and maintaining trainee data management and performance metrics.
- Participation in intake and assessment processes, hiring and orientation of trainees.
- Facilitate interactive workshops related to employment readiness and skill building.
- Other tasks, as assigned.
**Key Performance Indicators**
- Number of hiring partnerships formed.
- Percentage of hiring partners employing BUILD trainees.
- Number and percentage of trainees successfully transitioned to employment after 90 days.
**EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- Three years experience in the employment field, training in community and economic development, or a combination of experience and education.
- Significant experience working with people with multiple barriers to employment, or marginalized populations.
- Knowledge and experience with Indigenous culture, history, and the story of colonialism in Canada.
- Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques, understanding of self-determination in goal setting
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders
- Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Innovative with strong critical and abstract thinking skills
- Excellent computer and file management skills in a Microsoft Office environment.
- Experience and knowledge of facilitation techniques and adult learning
- Excellent computer and file management skills in a Microsoft Office environment.
- Strong knowledge and awareness of community resources
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required;
- Willing to obtain a criminal record and child abuse registry check.
- Sales experience is an asset.
