**Position Responsibilities**
- The Humanities and Social Sciences portfolio of the School of Arts and Education is seeking a Probationary Continuous Indigenous Studies Instructor to contribute to diploma and degree programming within the school and across the institution.- The incumbent will teach multiple sections of _INDS_ 205: Indigenous Peoples in Canada. _Per the course description,- INDS 205 focuses on the historical and contemporary contexts and experiences of Indigenous Peoples in Canada with a specific focus on Alberta. Some of the themes and topics the course focuses on include: an introduction to the way Indigenous languages shape understanding and experiences, colonialism, cultural and political re-emergence, Indigenous and non-Indigenous relations, and reconciliation. This is a required course in many of the degree programs at Red Deer Polytechnic.Faculty may be required to teach on campus and/or online (with synchronous or asynchronous instruction). All faculty may be required to attend on campus meetings and events.- Proficiency in a Canadian Indigenous language as well as having a relationship with Alberta Indigenous communities is an asset.- For more information contact:

- Master’s degree in Indigenous Studies or a cognate discipline as outlined above.
- OR- Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Ph.D. in Indigenous Studies or a cognate discipline as outlined above.
- Proficiency in a Canadian Indigenous language.
- Active and sustained relationships/engagement with Indigenous communities in Alberta.
- Experience teaching Indigenous studies at the university level.
- Experience teaching in one or more academic disciplines outside of indigenous studies.
- Experience teaching upper year courses and multidisciplinary perspective courses.
- Evidence of using decolonizing methodologies in both teaching and community work.
- Engagement with Indigenous knowledge systems and theories.
