**ASL Residential Support Worker (Intervenor) - Richmond, BC**

Intervenors are specially trained professionals who use a tactile form of Sign Language and act as the “eyes” and “ears” of a person who has both hearing loss and sight loss (deafblindness). An Intervenor facilitates access to environmental information that is usually gained through vision and hearing for clients living with deafblindness. The Intervenor will assist clients to gather information, learn concepts and skills, develop communication and language, and establish relationships that lead to greater independence and community involvement. Given the unique needs of individuals with deafblindness, Aspire offers ongoing training and professional development for employees.

**Your Impact**:

- Assist clients with deafblindness to communicate their needs, likes and preferences;
- Empower clients to make informed decisions and live enriched lives;
- Work as part of a team to support individuals to achieve identified goals;
- Follow activity plans, based on client’s personal plans and provide input on progress to the team;
- Assist with the development and implementation of client strategy plans;
- Provide personal care as required.

**Your Capabilities**:

- Must be fluent in ASL (American Sign Language), preferably with training as an Intervenor for Persons with deafblindess.
- Post-Secondary Education in Community Support Worker, Social Services Worker, Personal Support Worker or related field and at least 6 months of related work experience is preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to demonstrating respect, leadership, trust and teamwork;
- Current First Aid certification.
- Clear Criminal Record Check.
- Covid-19 Vaccination.

Pay: $27.50-$28.40 per hour
