The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is embarking on a transformative journey with the Restructured Energy Market (REM) program, a multi-year initiative designed to modernize Alberta’s energy market. Central to this effort is the Market Management System (MMS), an advanced platform that will redefine how grid and market operations are managed, setting a new standard for efficiency and innovation.

As the MMS Implementation Product Owner, you’ll take a lead role in this high-impact project, overseeing the implementation of the MMS from inception to full operational deployment. Reporting to the Director of Core Business Solutions, you’ll define the MMS product roadmap, manage the product backlog, and prioritize tasks to align with evolving requirements. You’ll coordinate with other REM workstreams, ensuring seamless integration with new and existing systems, and that the project achieves its operational and strategic goals.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
- Product Strategy: Define and maintain a clear product vision and strategy to align with AESO’s energy market transformation goals.- Product Delivery: Lead the full delivery lifecycle of the product, from design to deployment to production while ensuring adherence to the agreed upon timelines and quality standards.- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with the different business users and other workstream leads to ensure effective planning, communication and execution of the projects with facilitation of resource assignment within a matrix structure.- Vendor Oversight: Oversee and facilitate the vendor activities while maintaining alignment with KPIs.- Product Planning: Develop and manage detailed implementation plans and subsequent release plan while ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget and schedule constraints, and with dependencies on other program workstreams, and systems.- Prioritize the tasks and activities and proactively manage resources to achieve KPIs.- Manage stakeholder communications on status, financials, issue management, and risk management.- Operational Readiness: Support the delivery of the operational readiness and cutover planning and lead the delivery of the documents related to the product support.- User Feedback: Collect and analyze user feedback to inform product improvements and future development.
