Operations Manager

**Job Summary**:
The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of all operational elements of ZOOK Metal Business Unit Burlington facility. This includes the cohesive teamwork of personnel, development and implementation of systems and the leadership of internal operations. The Operations Manager is responsible for creating a customer-based orientation in all elements of production and developing processes that maximize safety and productivity.
**Essential duties and responsibilities**:
The Operations Manager has the following duties:
- Operation management:_
- Oversee the planning and organization of operational procedures and ensure availability of necessary material, equipment, labor and resources required for production.
- Monitor operations, manage processes and commit to plant safety procedures.
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and performance.
- Manage and coordinate all aspects of the order fulfillment process, from planning to timely shipping of goods.
- Ensure labour levels meet planned requirements for the production floor as well as monthly production targets.
- Provide expertise in manufacturing practices and support lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop, implement and execute strategies on process improvement.
- Inventory Management, ERP System operation and maintenance:_
- Maintain inventory of stock product and raw materials and participate in annual inventory count.
- Manage the ERP System for inventory adjustment, shipping and receiving.
- Lead the team to plan production process activities based on ERP data while ensuring effective program and managing costs.
- Employee supervision and management:_
- Directly accountable for a team of production supervisors and the production planning department.
- Participate in the selection and onboarding of new team members through interviewing and training.
- Provide coaching and on the job training to ensure direct and indirect individuals are meeting performance goals.
- Monitor time and attendance of team members and approve vacation requests.
- Conduct annual performance reviews of team members.
- Create and maintain a healthy team atmosphere and resolve issues positively and creatively.
- Production Planning:
- Provide customers with lead times based on stock levels and processing times.
- Develop and execute plans for meeting customer delivery expectations through planning and execution of staffing requirements.
- Quality & Continuous Improvement:_
- Collaborate with the Quality department to drive overall improvements in product quality including containment and root cause analysis of any quality escapes.
- Ensure that the plant meets all environmental and safety standards.
- Direct health and safety programs to strive to make the plant accident free.
**Qualifications**:
- 10+ years’ hands-on plant operations/production experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- University Degree in Engineering + 5 years experience as an operations Management role in a metalworking facility.
- Experience and/or education in process improvement, procedure creation and work instruction development.
- Strong analytical and variance analysis/root cause analysis.
- Expertise in managing ERP systems (inventory, shipping/receiving) and experience with shipping and receiving.
- Advanced technical manufacturing process experience and good understanding of production automation practices in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP preferred.
- Experience and proven success in a team lead, supervisory or managerial role.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt, maintain focus and exhibit high degree of accuracy while working with complex data in an environment of ever-changing deadlines, priorities and requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership ability in motivating and leading teams to meet dynamic timelines.
