The Bail Verification and Supervision Program in Belleville is a part of the John Howard Society of Belleville & District. We provide a wide range of services responding to crime and its causes. We are dedicated to supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration efforts of those who have been in conflict with the law.

**Position Summary**

Under the direction of the Executive Director, and Justice Services, the Court worker/ Bail Supervisor is responsible for assessing potential clients for program suitability, supervision and case management of clients, enforce conditions of release, and assess the client’s criminogenic risks factors to develop case management strategies.

**Responsibilities**
- Client supervision and case Management
- Provide information, referrals, and support to clients of the Bail Program
- Provide emergency assistance to clients within the first few days/weeks of transition from charge/institution to the community
- Enforce the conditions of release
- Respond to needs of clients and coordinate required services
- Provide clients with social services connections needed to obtain identification, Ontario Works, employment, counseling, education, treatment, etc.
- Conduct risk assessments to service users to know the best supports
- Court and assessment responsibilities
- Interview clients in the cellblock at court prior to court appearance
- Ensure client stays focused on the task at hand to obtain required information
- Complete standardized assessments to evaluate the client’s risk and need areas, and to develop and implement an intervention plan to address those areas of need that are most strongly associated with criminal activity
- Maintain knowledge of and assist clients with referrals to appropriate community service agencies and educational/vocational programs
- Advise the Court, Crown, Defense, service users and the Justice of the Peace, that our program provides verified, neutral and factual information to the Courts
- Testify in court when required

**Report Writing/ Administrative**
- Prepare reports for the court in a timely manner outlining bail supervision summary
- Ensure client case notes and files are maintained and kept confidential within the client information management system
- Maintain client master files by affixing assessment and intervention plan, statistical forms, consents, and any relevant internal information including all bail program forms
- Complete risk assessments and create case plans in a timely manner

**Education and Experience Requirements**
- A degree in the Criminology/Social Services field or equivalent (Law, Psychology, Sociology, Law Clerk, Social Work, Policing, Corrections) combined with case management and relevant experience
- Specific education, training or certification in community corrections is an asset
- Minimum 2 years court experience / etiquette required
- Previous experience case managing clients who have high/complex needs or have multiple barriers to reintegration
- Knowledge of motivational, solution-focused and crisis intervention counselling techniques
- Knowledge of local community resources
- Knowledge of risk management

**Other Requirements**
- Valid ‘G’ class driver’s license and a reliable personal vehicle
