Hours: 22.5 hours per week
**Salary**: $46.58 to $58.22 per hour
Status: Permanent Part-time

The Clinical and Organizational Ethicist will be part of a dedicated team which provides comprehensive ethics support to the entire UHN community. The ethicist will provide guidance and ethical leadership to clinical teams across all of UHN’s hospitals. The role includes consultation on clinical, organizational and research ethics issues; providing assistance in the development of policies and guidelines related to ethical issues; supporting research, initiating and participating in a variety of bioethics-related educational initiatives and aligning with the strategic priority of “empowering and investing in a diverse TeamUHN” by integrating critical disability, gender, race and anti-oppression theories in practice.
**Duties**
- To provide guidance and ethical support to clinical teams across all of UHN’s hospitals.
- The Clinical and Organizational Ethicist provides assistance in the development of policies and guidelines related to ethical issues;
- The role includes consultation on clinical, organizational, and research ethics issues
- The role supports research, and includes initiating and participating in a variety of ethics-related educational initiatives
- Other duties, as requested
**Qualifications**:
- Terminal degree in a field relevant to Bioethics
- Completion of a Bioethics fellowship, strongly preferred
- Clinical experience with ethical issues in patient/client care
- Experience developing, revising, and implementing bioethics-related policies, preferred
- Experience in teaching clinical ethics to students and staff
- Eligible for membership in the Joint Centre for Bioethics
- Skills in teaching, presenting, mediation, and negotiation
- Collaborative, client-focused, and able to excel in a diverse work environment
- Experience with change management initiatives
- Highly-developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to critically assess and resolve problems (can identify the value uncertainty that triggers requests for ethics consultations)
- Ability to work effectively and with composure under pressure or stressful conditions, and to meet multiple and competing deadlines
- A high degree of self-awareness and an ability to listen well
- An ability to convey respect and empathy in emotionally-charged situations
An ability to identify and highlight valuable, but under-represented, perspectives
