**Position Description**:
The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is seeking a full-time ethics lead for Precision Child Health (PCH) to join our well-established, 32-year-old, clinically and academically active interdisciplinary Department of Bioethics. SickKids is affiliated with the University of Toronto, is a research-intensive hospital and a 370 bed tertiary care referral academic centre dedicated to improving children's health. As innovators in child health, SickKids aims to improve the health of children by integrating care, research and teaching.
- With a staff that includes professionals from all disciplines of health care and research, SickKids provides complex and specialized care by creating scientific and clinical advancements, sharing knowledge and expertise and championing the development of an accessible, comprehensive and sustainable child health care system.
- This Bioethicist for PCH and Novel Therapeutics position will involve engagement with patients, families, staff, researchers and trainees across the institution. The Bioethicist¿s responsibilities will be within the clinical, organizational and research domains related to PCH at SickKids. Areas of activities across and within these spheres will include consultation, education, committee participation, research, scholarship and policy development.

- Participate in and support Bioethics Department and PCH activities
- Participate in and support the PCH initiative
- Develop and support a PCH Ethics Hub to coordinate ethics and ethics adjacent activities (research ethics, data governance, patient and family engagement) related to PCH
- Provide Bioethics consultation on PCH related issues for clinicians, allied health professionals, researchers, administrators, patients, parents, guardians at SickKids within clinical, research, educational and organizational domains.
- Provide PCH ethics education (e.g. Bioethics Grand Rounds, unit/departmental-based teaching) for staff and trainees
- Participate as a member of PCH related hospital committees and working groups (PCH steering committee, Off-formulary Expensive Drug panel within the Drugs and Therapeutics Committee, REB)
- Develop and review policies and guidelines at the interface of ethics and PCH
- Advance scholarship and contribute to paediatric bioethics research
**Here's What You¿ll Need**:
- Minimum Requirements:_
- Graduate degree in bioethics (or equivalent training)
- Post-graduate fellowship training and/or experience as a bioethicist
- Demonstrated experience in bioethics consultation
- Demonstrated experience in bioethics education
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of multidisciplinary staff
- Ability to mentor/supervise trainees
- Extensive experience engaging directly with regulators, and pharmaceutical companies around ethical issues associated with novel therapeutics
- Extensive experience engaging directly with families in advocacy and supportive roles linked to novel therapeutics
- Publication in Bioethics peer reviewed journals
- Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives
- Assets:_
- Experience in (1) Paediatric Bioethics and (2) health research an asset
