Anishnabeg Outreach is looking for a highly energetic and qualified Tutor and Recreational Sports program support volunteer to help facilitate our Indigenous tutoring and sports program along side our AO staff. The program is open for students in grade 1-12.

Anishnabeg Outreach is a large and rapidly expanding Indigenous non-profit and charity organization. We are dedicated to the enrichment of the Indigenous community through the development of many partnerships. Through our work, we foster belonging and spirit building, and dedicate ourselves to building a healthy and vibrant Indigenous community every day. We know youth sport programing and education support is an important piece of the wrap around supports we provide. That’s where you come in.

Anishnabeg Outreach is an incorporated non-profit organization guided by a volunteer Board of Directors. We work primarily with the non-profit sector and are guided by a clear mission and set of values. We provide Indigenous people with access to culturally appropriate services and strive to support individuals with direction and assistance to overcome barriers. We encourage individual exploration of avenues that will lead to self-sufficiency and success.

To help First Nations, Metis and Inuit by creating a sustainable and comprehensive suite of centralized wrap around services for urban FNMI and to establish Anishnabeg Outreach as an innovative hub/heart of best practices for economic development, training and employment on reserves.

**Knoweledge, skills and abilities required**:

- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work well within a team environment with mínimal supervision
- Ability to create a safe and inclusive environment working with a diverse population
- Good interpersonal skills, friendly and patient
- Able to perform the physical demands of this position, frequently engaging in physically active
- Strong conflict resolution and ability to problem solve
- Agrees with the objectives and philosophy of Anishnabeg Outreach and displays a caring, respectful attitude toward the families and team members
- Sports Administration, Recreation Management, Bachelor of Education, Community Engagement, ECE, Child and Youth Worker or a related field (preferred) or relevant work/volunteer experience
- Vulnerable Sector Police check required if 18+
- Tutoring experience an asset

**Key Responsibilties**
- Help facilitate drop-in sports programming for students ranging from grade 1-12 (ex. indoor basketball, soccer, dodgeball, floor hockey, etc.)
- Maintain a safe and tidy program space ensuring equipment is set-up and stored appropriately after each use.
- Understand, adhere to, and enforce organizational Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Boundaries**:

- Must adhere to AO’s safety and professionalism policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of any information regarding students
- Maintain a professional relationship with students; do not meet privately
- Do not share personal contact information with students

**Support**:

- Onboarding training will be provided

**Time Commitment**:

- 3 hours per week
- Kitchener: Thursday’s 4-7pm
- Minimum 5-month commitment required with encouragement to come back next school year
- (February-June 2023)
- Attend each week at the prearranged times
