**Intensive Support and Supervision Program (ISSP) Worker**
Temporary - 28 hours/Week to November 01, 2023

**Position Summary**:
To provide one-to-one support and supervision to youth who are on probation and deemed to be medium to high risk of re-offending.

**Qualifications**:

- Education, Training and Experience:_
- Diploma in Child and Youth Care or in a related Human/Social Services field.
- Minimum of one (1) year recent experience working with at-risk youth.
- Valid First Aid Level C is required.
- Competency with Microsoft Office.
- Recent Naloxone training.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Clearance
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance. Driver’s abstract is required.
- Job Skills and Ability:_
- Ability to provide intensive support and supervision to youth on probation, court ordered, released from custody early or out on bail.
- Expertise in working with high risk youth involved in the justice system.

**Willingness to work with youth who have offended violently or sexually. ** Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a team and with other community professionals. **Excellent crisis management skills.**
- **Excellent understanding of safety is at-risk situations.**:

- Excellent organization skills.**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:
1. To provide intensive support and supervision to youth on probation, court ordered, released from custody early or out on bail.
2. Report non-compliance to the Youth Probation Officer.
3. Facilitating youth engagement in school and/or employment.
4. To review Violent Risk Assessments and create and follow plans to ensure staff and program participant safety.
5. Adapt and facilitate program and develop individualized plans, in collaboration with youth, probation officer, and care teams, including goals and objectives related to increasing life skills and reducing criminal behaviour.
6. Provide one-to-one support to youth, including crisis support and safety planning, education on harm-reduction, anger management and conflict resolution.
7. Develop positive relationships with youth that will provide them with the emotional support and practical assistance required to address their individual needs, achieve their personal goals, and increase their protective factors.

8. To provide minimum two (2) one-to-one support activities per week to teach pro-social life skills through recreation and/or other identified activities. A minimum of two (2) phone contacts with the youth.

9. A minimum of one (1) contact with parent and/or caregiver per week and one (1) contact with an additional resource.

11. Providing support to youth in locations that are convenient for the youth and transporting or accessing public transportation with youth to attend appointments, access community resources and other activities as appropriate.
12. Support youth to remain engaged with their family as appropriate.
13. Responds to critical incidents and implements crisis intervention strategies that address the specific health and safety issues of those involved, and informs the manager when such situation arise.
14. Maintain awareness of available community resources, make appropriate referrals, and provide support in connecting youth with relevant services and community supports.
15. To maintain up-to-date knowledge on the Youth Criminal Justice Act as applicable to providing ISSP services.
16. To work collaboratively with the Ministry of Children and Family Development and other Service Providers,

Collaborative work includes participation in care team meetings, goal development, regular updates and other additional expectations as required.

17. Maintain up-to-date client files and complete any required computer and database documentation.
18. Provide monthly written reports to the Probation Officer.
19. Complete monthly statistical reports required by the funder.
20. Completes all mandatory training.
21. Performs other relevant duties as required.

- Wage rate as per BCGEU Collective Agreement, Adult, Youth, and/or Child (AYC) Worker,

Grid 11 AYC Worker - $23.10
- This position requires Union membership.
- This position is open to all persons.
- This position requires successful completion of a criminal record check.
- This position reports to the Youth Services Coordinator.
