**Westminster House, a locally owned and operated seniors' care home in the South Surrey/White Rock area is currently looking for a Maintenance worker to join our team.**

**SUMMARY OF POSITION**:
Reporting to the Manager of Maintenance & Support Services, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for carrying out general repair and maintenance work including, painting, drywalling, minor plumbing (replacing faucets, unblocking toilets), woodworking (e.g. replacing moulding, door frames), preparing rooms for new resident move-ins, and minor electrical work (tasks that do not require an electrician's license).

**Note**: Position is full-time 5 days per week; hours are 8:00 to 4:00.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Including but not limited to:
**Regular Maintenance, Repairs and Building Improvements**:
1. Completes general minor repairs to electrical, plumbing and other building components within capabilities

2. Inspects alarm, call, and security systems and logs information daily
3. Ensures the safety of the building, equipment, staff and residents

4. Be available for emergency call-ins.

5. Maintains a painting/touch-up schedule.
6. Makes recommendations for repairs, replacements, or upgrades to be reviewed with the Manager and be involved in improvement projects.
7. Schedules and supervises service work in the absence of the Manager

**Environmental Issues**:
1. Attends to garbage and general clean up in resident and public areas (Exterior and Interior).
2. Ensures the safety of staff, residents, guests, and vendor personnel by ensuring all areas of the building and its exterior grounds are maintained in a safe condition (i.e. snow clearing, debris, and leaves, etc.)

3. Oversees the pest control program in the absence of the Manager

4. Maintains an organized and safe work and storage areas.

5. Assists Housekeeping if requested.

**Fire & Life Safety**:
1. Assists the Fire Safety Director in drills.
2. Maintains scheduled certification for fire systems.
3. Complies with fire regulations.
4. Implements all repair and maintenance activities in a safe manner while abiding by appropriate Work Safe BC regulations

**Maintenance Management**:
1. Works with the Manager to develop and adhere to a preventative maintenance schedule.
2. Prioritizes maintenance requests in the portal (computer program) and schedules work load so the work can be performed in an efficient manner.

3. Works with Manager to implement programs which conserve and save energy for lighting and other equipment.

**Dress Code**:
1. Always maintains a neat professional appearance and be attired in clean, safe and presentable clothing.
2. Rubber-soled, steel-toed safety shoes when needed.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Training and/or 2 years of experience, including competencies in building repairs, painting and finishes, floor care, safety procedures, property maintenance, plumbing, heating and air conditioning.
- Proven customer service skills and excellent command of verbal and written English language.
- Sound knowledge of the operation and maintenance of equipment used in the residence.
- Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
- All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check. Applicable to British Columbia applicants.
- As per Public Health Order, must be fully vaccinated against COVID

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $27.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
