We are currently seeking a dynamic, self-driven and flexible person to fill the role of OFA Level 2/Labourer. As the OFA Level 2/Labourer, you will be responsible for protecting the health and safety of all workers on your designated construction site(s). You will promote a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel on-site and ensure that Cantera not only meets but exceeds industry standards, as well as perform general construction site labour duties.

**Responsibilities**:
You will be actively involved in all aspects of the safety program for Cantera. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

- Monitor safety compliance of workers and sub-contractors;
- Establish and maintain schedules for inspections and monitoring, safety meetings, and the review of safety performance.
- Conduct site-specific health and safety orientations for all new site workers and visitors;
- Facilitate and participate in site inspections, including implementing any corrective action that may be required;
- Proactively identify hazards and implement corrective measures, as required;
- Ensure that all accidents, incidents and injuries are properly reported to all appropriate parties;
- Prepare site safety plans, conduct hazard assessments, incident investigations and risk assessment;
- Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks
- Maintain and prepare thorough documentation and reports
- Administer first aid, as necessary, maintain first aid records and report incidents to appropriate parties.
- Review on a continuous basis, the performance of the safety program and make recommendations on changes and improvements, as required.
- Coordinate site safety programs with the Superintendent, Supervisors and Sub-contractors, ensuring all company standards are met.
- Assist with labour duties and site maintenance, as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Requirements and Qualifications**:

- Ideally a minimum of 3-5 years experience in the construction industry as a safety officer
- Current OFA Level II or higher
- Solid working knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations, policies, standards and guidelines
- Excellent organization, written and verbal communications, and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience using SiteMax software considered an asset;
- Demonstrated ability to keep detailed and accurate records.
- Valid Drivers’ License
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform other physically demanding duties
- Ability to complete multiple labour tasks such as general clean up/floor protection/screwing floors, etc.
- Beneficial: basic carpentry skills.
