Employee Services - Leaves Support

(Office Support D)

**Temporary position ending 30 June 2023**

**Location**: VSB Education Centre

(1580 West Broadway)

**Department**: Employee Services - Wellness Team

**Position Type**: Temporary

**Hours of Work**: 7 hours per day

**Salary**: $31.72/hour

+18.6% in lieu of all benefits

**In this position, you will**:
Provide confidential office support for the Employee Services Division (formerly named Human Resources)

Communicate with employees, supervisors, administrators, union representatives and other Employee Services staff as appropriate about leave decisions in writing and verbally.

Process leave of absence requests in accordance with entitlements established in Collective Agreements, Employment Standards Act and Employment Insurance statutory leaves.

Demonstrate sensitivity, confidentiality and conscientious attitudes with the employee applicants

Demonstrate awareness of the relationship to accuracy and sensitivity in leaves processing with payroll deadlines to avoid salary overpayments or underpayments when employees return to work.

Organize and maintain databases and produce reports for all employees on leave

Responsible for reconciling the Education Leave budget and allocation of funds to the Education Committee

Responsible for setting up, taking minutes and preparing documentation for the Education Committee

Responsible for following up all leaves as they approach their end date

Provide information regarding leaves and the required documentation where applicable in order to process a leave request

Prepare established reports as required in Collective Agreement or practice with union stakeholders

Liaise with the public, schools, agencies, and VSB Divisions

Perform other work within the job band as assigned

**Qualifications**:
Completion of Grade 12 plus formal training in Human Resources and a minimum of five (5) years of office experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous experience using Peoplesoft HCM is preferred.

Exceptional customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to establish priorities and meet competing deadlines in a volume of work.

Previous experience administrating and maintaining a “bring forward” system and follow-up system.

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

**Must be able to meet the following assessments**: current Word and Excel (average = +75%), composing correspondence and applicable Accounting assessment.
