**PURPOSE OF POSITION**:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Risk Management and Legal Services, the incumbent will:
- exercise Clerk of the Court responsibilities
- lead, organize, monitor and participate in the day-to-day operations of the Provincial Offences administration as a
“working leader” within the POA function of the Legal and Support Services Division to ensure legislative compliance
and continuity of court operations
- administer collection of overdue fines
- optimize and implement efficiencies for POA and court software
**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**:
- Community College diploma relative to area of responsibility (Legal, Office / Business Administration)
- Specialized training/course related to court services/operations
PLUS
- Successful completion of training or experience related to process review and improvement, software optimization for
- workflow efficiencies, accounting (collections) or leading a team is preferred- A minimum of 5 years of current related experience (preferably in a legal environment with experience specific to
- court procedures and documentation relative to civil enforcement)- previous financial training or education including cash handling and reconciling experience considered an asset
Or equivalent to the above.
**KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED**:
- Excellent knowledge of _Provincial Offences Act, Courts of Justice Act, Rules of the Ontario Court (Provincial _
- Division) in Provincial Offences Proceedings, Defective Certificate of Offence Regulation, Proceedings Commenced _
- by Certificate of Offence Regulation _and other related legislation, as well as knowledge of legal terms and
procedures.

good working relationships with POA staff.
- Analytical thinker with the ability to interpret, negotiate and resolve problems in positive manner.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, that reflect clear direction to staff and clear explanation when
addressing escalated customer concerns.
**COMPUTER EXPERTISE**:
Level 3 - The incumbent must possess a combination of introductory and intermediate level computer skills scored at 65%
or higher for Outlook and at least one of Word / Excel / PowerPoint to ensure their:
- use Internet for research,
- file management,
- and/or require introductory to intermediate knowledge of department or division-specific software to accomplish job
tasks.
**_Accountabilities / Tasks

**Include, but are not limited to the following**:
**Leadership, Administrative and Customer Service
- Organize, assign and direct work of the Provincial Offences & Court Services Clerks on day to day matters to ensure
proper continuity of court functions and legislative compliance as required by the Memorandum of Understanding
with the Ministry of the Attorney General and the Provincial Offences Act.
- Actively participate in the day-to-day operations of the POA function
- Comply with the Oath of Secrecy (non disclosure oath) for POA related activities
- Provide true copies of legal documents
- Assist Supervisor and Manager with establishment of annual and long-term objectives, priorities and standards of
performance and controls for POA and court operations
- Liaise with and regularly update Supervisor and Manager on POA activities
- Make recommendations to Supervisor regarding continuous improvement of operations and streamlining of work
processes utilizing available softw
