Victoria, Canada Pixel Union Full time

As **Product Lead for Pixel Union **you will actively manage our products and steward our vision across our product portfolio, working collaboratively to refine, evolve, and ship our product strategy.

Pixel Union is a top Shopify partner, and our design-forward premium themes have been the cornerstone of our success. Our apps both support Shopify merchants to take their store’s visual experience to new heights, and accelerate their success with impactful utilities. We’re focused on helping our merchants — entrepreneurs, innovators, brands, and businesses large and small — succeed by providing them with the world’s best digital products, backed by exceptional customer support.

As Product Lead you’ll work directly with our CEO and ensure that we continue to meet the needs of our thousands of existing merchants while also positioning our catalogue to anticipate the evolving demands of the dynamic e-commerce industry.

Taking accountability for product activities across the business, while ensuring our team’s work is held to exceptional standards, is critical. You’ll be accountable for the integrity of our team’s work, professional career growth, and fostering collaboration and idea sharing across the team.

This role demands a unique mix of creativity, human experience (HX) & technical acumen, and business sense to shape our existing products and pitch new ones. You have proven design skills, seasoned experience in e-commerce, a habit of developing new ideas, and strength in effectively communicating strategy to internal teams and partners. You love to inspire and grow the team through all aspects of the product life cycle, and take responsibility for promoting internal product disciplines and leadership.

**Portfolio Vision and Strategy**

The Product Lead is responsible for driving the product vision and strategy forward for our portfolio and each product within. Linking vision and strategy meaningfully to the work of our teams across the company requires collaborating closely with Leadership on our overarching business vision and objectives, and building support and excitement across the teams.

You balance various inputs, consider trade-offs, and present well researched recommendations to gain buy-in. Various inputs include, but are not limited to:

- Shopify platform ecosystem and overall e-commerce market direction
- Engaging directly with customers for feedback
- Product usage data, including growth experiments
- Technical enhancements, as required, from development team

We’re looking for someone who is pragmatic, comfortable driving growth through experimentation, and is willing to make bold moves.

**Your day to day looks like**:

- Collaborating with designers, developers, marketers, and product stakeholders to develop, position, and ship amazing products
- Leading & supporting the team in managing products through their full product life cycle, including: launch planning, commercialization, and end of life decisions
- Bring thought leadership to conversations around product vision and overall strategies in partnership with stakeholders
- Collaborate with Sr. Leadership to articulate outcomes, objectives, features, capabilities, and key metrics
- Distilling the broader product roadmap down to achievable milestones for the product team
- Building and maintaining productive relationships with all stakeholders and internal project teams, setting direction for the team and keeping everyone focused on solving the right problem through an outcome-driven approach
- Collaborating with the Development Lead on process, finding ways to unlock the delivery team's creativity and hit targets.
- Aligning teams around product strategy through open conversation, high-quality written briefs, and presentations.
- Working with leadership on product contribution budget development, tracking, and accountability
- Rolling up your sleeves, getting in the work, and providing guidance to several project teams simultaneously
- Assisting in operational needs of the product group including staffing, scoping, and mentorship of product managers

**Requirements**:

- Well versed in e-commerce trends, having spent years at an e-commerce agency, e-commerce platform, professional services firm, or in-house at a mid-to-large online merchant
- Established design acumen with demonstrated body of design work and the ability to translate HX, technical, and design concepts into clear merchant and business values
- Data analysis & SQL knowledge, an asset
- At least 3 years leading product design and/or product management teams (entrepreneurial experience counts as well)
- Previous experience successfully shipping & managing a portfolio of at least 2 products
- Enthusiasm about e-commerce and entrepreneurship
