Artisan/craftsperson

Global Consulting Solutions Limited (“GCSL”) is seeking an artisan/craftsperson to assess, repair, refurbish, maintain and catalogue an inventory of furniture, fixtures and artifacts constructed of wood, silver-plate, bronze, copper, ceramic and concrete/stone of traditional Chinese/Asian styling. This is a two-year project.

Areas of specialization include:

- Repair and restoration of traditional Chinese furniture;
- Decoration and repair of traditional Asian stone statues and concrete stands and structures;
- Repair and restoration of wall hangings and tapestries; and
- Repair and restoration of antique Chinese silver-plate, copper, bronze and ceramic artifacts.

Language of workplace is English. Fluency with Mandarin or Cantonese is an asset.

Location of employment is Richmond B.C.

Applicants are expected to have training and/or apprenticeship and 15 years of relevant skilled artisan experience. They are also required to each submit a portfolio showing works and finished products consistent with use of traditional handcraft methods and demonstrating creativity and fine detail.

This is a full-time temporary placement of two years. Salary is $27 - $32/hour, depending on experience, for a 40-hour work week. Benefits include 10 working days’ vacation time annually, and extended health benefits after six months of satisfactory employment.
