**Human Resource Assistant**

The Saskatchewan Association of Watersheds (SAW) is a non-profit, environmental organization whose mandate is to deliver projects and programming to protect, improve and sustain ground and surface water quality for communities and residents across Saskatchewan. We are seeking a goal-oriented professional to join our team, as the Human Resource Assistant. This position reports to the Executive

Director.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include**:
**HR Policies and Procedures**
- assist with the formulation and implementation of human resource policies and procedures.
- advise and assist employees with understanding human resource policies and procedures.
- provide consultative services to managers regarding Human Resource best practices, labour legislation, industry standards (qualifications and compensation) and research legal precedents as required.

**Recruitment and Hiring**
- assist with creating and posting job vacancies.
- schedule interviews and assessments.
- administer and process new hire paperwork.
- coordinate orientation of new employees.

**Employee Development**
- coordinate performance appraisals.
- organize training and coaching.
- assist with the provision of employee wellness programs and other HR services.
- record performance, grievance and disciplinary information.
- assist with the termination process including paperwork, notifications to relevant departments and exit interviews.

**Employee Database Management**
- maintain and process accurate and complete HR and employee records.
- select relevant data and compile HR reports including statistical summaries, charts, graphs and surveys.

**Administrative Support**
- schedule meetings and venues.
- make travel arrangements.
- prepare and distribute correspondence and communications.
- plan and coordinate employee events such as recognition awards
- assist with budget administration and tracking.

**Employee Liaison**
- ensure smooth flow of information between employees and Human Resources.
- respond to inquiries and requests from employees.
- convey employee concerns and issues to management.

**Payroll and Benefits**
- assist with benefits enrollment of employees when eligible and cessation of benefits on termination of employment.
- input and track vacation and sick leave.
- collect time and attendance records.
- conduct salary surveys.
- assist employees with payroll related questions.

**Compliance**
- promote employee compliance with HR mandated processes and systems.
- monitor adherence to labor laws and employment regulations.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Working knowledge of recruitment procedures.
- Basic working knowledge of labor law and employment best practices
- Knowledge of payroll and benefits.
- Communication skills - verbal and written.
- Conflict management.
- Data management.
- Judgment and decision making.
- Problem solving.
- Organizing and planning.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Confidentiality and discretion.
- Team player.

**SALARY**:

- The annual salary range for this position is $53,000 - $60,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
- Our management team’s typical work week is 37.5 hours (8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday). However, from time-to-time operational needs may dictate that you work more than 37.5 hours and there may be weekend work as well. This is an exempt, salaried, managerial position.
