Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, Maintenance and Transportation, the Project Manager is responsible for all
project management related tasks throughout all phases of project delivery from design inception to construction completion
and acts as a liaison between design consultants, CPPD and various stakeholder groups at the Louis Riel School Division. The
Project Manager will monitor the consultant’s progress and provide technical reviews of their work. The position exists to
facilitate the effective delivery of large capital and renovation projects as well as providing the technical skills (research,
planning, programming, design, cost estimates, drawing & specification writing) needed in assisting in the development and
implementation of large capital projects. They will be responsible for capital budget preparation and execution for upcoming
fiscal year, overseeing the maintenance of all school building and assist with supervision of facilities staff and contracted
services to maintain all division buildings and grounds in a safe and efficient condition within the administrative guidelines and
regulations of the Louis Riel School Division.

This position requires work from an office location as well as the ability to travel to various work sites across the Division. A
flexible schedule, including the possibility of some evenings, is required.
**REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: -**
Bachelor of Science in Environment Design, Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
- PMI’s Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2 Certification, IIBA Certification, Certified Associate in Project

Management (CAPM) designation, LEED or other sustainability accreditations would be considered an asset
- Five years’ experience in project planning, management and delivery of large capital projects, renovation projects and

general building maintenance is required.
- Five years experience working as a Project Manager in public education would be an asset.
- Knowledge of project management principles and procedures and in-depth understanding of construction procedures and

material procurement is required.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of architecture and design in specific areas, such as concept design and

functional planning, major building components and systems, zoning and permit requirements, CCDC contracts, preparation
of budgets and other requirements related to commercial facility construction is required to make decisions of a technical
nature.
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of Building Code.
- Must have ability to plan and schedule work; read building plans and architectural blueprints, specifications, manufacturer’s

literature, etc. and to be able to order materials and instruct staff with sketches and notes.
- Must have a sound knowledge of management techniques and disciplines in the administration of people, finances and

technical matters including the coordination of projects
- Knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration, organizational management, planning, staffing,

supervision, and employee development
- Must possess knowledge of acts and legislation as it relates to the maintenance department.
- Must have the ability and understanding of the operation of shop tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of Division policies and procedures, FIPPA, PHIA, WHMIS, WSH policies and procedures, WCB, and collective

agreements would be an asset.
- Good understanding of the role of confidentiality and privacy issues

- Proven ability to manage a significant number of projects at the same time is required.
- Ability to train employees, monitor performance, provide feedback and develop work strategies where required
- Ability to manage multiple demands combined with good problem-solving skills
- Excellent judgment and analytical skills with the ability to interpret situations accurately and act accordingly.
- Ability to resolve complaints and concerns, provide assistance in a helpful and courteous manner
- Valid Manitoba Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Available to attend emergency call outs as required
- Excellent team player combined with an ability to work independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills is both official languages (English and French) would be an asset
