SUMMARY OF POSITION: The General Superintendent will oversee all company construction activities and is responsible for the safe delivery of projects within the established design, budget, and scheduling guidelines. They will focus on optimizing ongoing construction operations and profitability, full implementation of industry best practices, and Zehr Levesque policies and procedures. The General Superintendent will supervise, manage, and support all dedicated project teams. This includes people management, planning and scheduling, organizing, directing, and controlling activities on the construction sites while upholding the Zehr Group of Companies Vision, Values, and Principles.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety Leadership
- Promote Zehr Leveque’s safety management system and zero-accident culture.
- Ensure proactive safety process and adherence to OHSA regulations
- Support and uphold COR certification standards across all sites.
- Collaborate, coordinate with, and support Zehr Levesque’s Heath and Safety Lead in the implementation of the safety management system in all field operations.

People Leadership
- Lead, coach, train mentor, and develop Project Superintendents, and other direct reports.
- Assist in the recruiting of new talent for field operations teams.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations and career planning for direct reports.
- In conjunction with Vice-President, Construction Operations, Human Resources, and other corporate resources, establish, develop, and deliver a comprehensive training program for the field operations staff.
- Maintain and monitor project org charts to ensure effective and efficient staffing for job sites
- Ensure manpower and resource levels for all construction sites in accordance with projects’ obligations and requirements.
- Promote a teamwork approach for achieving objectives.
- Ability to delegate effectively and pass leadership responsibilities down through the organization, ensuring alignment with the overall strategy and/or direction.
- Facilitates forums or practices to reinforce independent and open communication among team members.
- Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements throughout field operations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other project stakeholders including owners, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Direct and maintain labor relations consistent with area practice.

Process Leadership
- Ensure implementation of industry best practices and Zehr Levesque policies and procedures.
- Participate in and support projects’ pre-construction and pre-planning activities.
- Own and promote site problem-solving, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions.
- Deal with site escalations related to major project issues or subcontractor’s effectiveness.
- Ensure site standards related to documentation and reporting are maintained.
- Use of key performance indicators to ensure continuous learning and improvement.

Technology Leadership
- Support and drive utilization of Zehr Group construction technology in field operations to optimize project execution and results.

Strategy Leadership
- Provide input to operations strategy in terms of site evaluations, best practice identification, and competitive assessments.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Zehr Leveque goals, objectives, policies & procedures, and strategy as a member of the senior leadership team.
- Provide operational support to Business Development and Preconstruction Services as required either directly or by assignment of appropriate staff for preconstruction assignments or opportunity pursuits and project pre-planning.
- Build and leverage a network of relationships that are important to the organization and its stakeholders.
- Identifies and enlists key influencers to act as change agents, involving them in designing and delivering change
- Communicates a compelling business case to the whole organization to gain buy-in for significant change.

Quality Leadership
- Develop and implement Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) strategies, policies, and procedures for field operations.
- Ensure corrective and preventive actions are in place for the reduction of rework.
- Engage with Zehr Group’s Customer Experience team to assist in incorporating customer satisfaction measures in project delivery.
- Ensure Zehr Leveque’s standards for quality and brand are maintained.

QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Relevant post-secondary diploma/degree plus a minimum of 15 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Must have demonstrable experience of successful leadership with similarly complex, project-based organizations and a track record of impact in delivery and operating performance.
