We are looking for a Data Scientist based in Montreal, Quebec. Our Data Scientists create and propose innovative solutions using machine learning to support our business at Locala. This role reports to the VP of Engineering located in Paris.

**Your role**:

- Contribute to the creation of decision-making systems or decision support systems, which are integral to the company's offerings.
- Understand business needs and model them in the form of mathematical problems of prediction or optimization
- Propose innovative solutions, using machine learning or classical statistical models, that respect industrial constraints, in particular for the management of large volumes of data (time, cost)
- Describe and implement the corresponding assessment protocols
- Participate in the collection of data to improve the quality of the models
- Diligently document and communicate your achievements, paying particular attention to the accessibility of the presentation to the audience
- Communicate any obstacles or other challenges that may impede your work to management
- Maintain a courteous attitude towards fellow team members and people from outside the organization.

**You have**:

- 2-3 years experience in Data Science and machine learning
- Experience in a Spark environment
- An understanding of distributed systems would be an asset
- A specialization (for example: deep learning, clustering, geographic data processing) is a plus
- A good command of the basics of Python programming. Experience with Java and Scala is an asset
- Good communication skills in French a plus

- Savoir comprendre les besoins métier et les modéliser sous la forme de problèmes mathématiques de prédiction ou d’optimisation
- Proposer des solutions innovantes, utilisant des modèles de machine learning ou de statistiques classiques, qui respectent les contraintes industrielles, en particulier pour la gestion de gros volumes de données (temps, coût)
- Décrire et mettre en place les protocoles d’évaluation correspondants
- Participer à la collecte des données permettant d’améliorer la qualité des modèles
- Documenter assidûment et communiquer vos réalisations, en soignant particulièrement l'accessibilité de la présentation à l’audience
- Communiquer aux responsables tout bloqueur ou autres problèmes qui affectent votre travail
- Communiquer de manière bienveillante avec les autres membres de l’équipe mais aussi toute personne extérieure

**Vous avez**:

- Une expérience de 2/3 ans en Data Science et en machine learning
- Une expérience dans un environnement Spark
- Une compréhension des systèmes distribués serait un atout
- Une spécialisation (par exemple : deep learning, clustering, traitement de données géographiques) est un plus
- Une bonne maîtrise des bases de la programmation en Python. Des expériences avec les langages Java et Scala sont des atouts
- Une bonne communication en anglais
