**POSITION OVERVIEW**
We are seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead our Information Technology department and spearhead our technology initiatives. As the CIO, you will be at the helm of our Information Technology discipline, providing a vision that aligns with our organization’s objectives. You will play a pivotal role in developing and executing IT strategies that leverage technology to drive innovation, enhance efficiency and deliver exceptional services throughout the organization for the benefit of the citizens of Maple Ridge.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Crafting Strategic IT Vision: You will develop IT strategies that align with the city’s overall strategic direction and objectives. Overseeing the implementation of IT strategic plans and initiatives, you will ensure that technology investments are in line with corporate goals.
- IT Operations Management: Providing leadership to our IT staff, you will oversee operating plans, budgets for operational and capital expenditures and review proposals for hardware and software acquisitions.
- Advisory Role: You will provide advice and direction to department heads, staff and users on various information technology matters, identifying issues and recommending effective solutions.
- Steering Committee Leadership: Facilitates the IT Business Technology steering committee, effectively addressing business requirements and expectations with sophisticated, right sized, and scalable technology solutions that are cooperatively managed through to completion with the various business areas.
- Drive Technology Excellence: Identify and research strategic IT initiatives that benefit the city staff and the community, presenting potential solutions to key stakeholders and fostering collaboration with other partners and municipalities.
- Talent Management: Oversee the development of IT staff, leading and mentoring supervisory staff to foster and engaged and collaborative work environment.

**KEY COMPETENCIES**
- Extensive knowledge of information technology infrastructure, hardware, software and methodologies in support of business operations.
- Demonstrate a strong grasp of IT strategy, cybersecurity, project management, service management, systems and design thinking and policy development to communicate a compelling and inspirited vision and sense of core purpose.
- Ability to communicate effectively to convey information, ideas and emotions clearly, empathetically and authentically to achieve mutual understanding and build positive relationships.
- Political acumen, problem solving and critical thinking skills to anticipate and adapt to emerging priorities.
- Proven track record of managing and achieving outcomes, adapting to changing priorities and anticipating emerging issues.
- Advanced leadership skills to foster a collaborative and productive culture, inspiring teamwork, creativity and positive results.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
The knowledge, skills, and experience required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, commerce, or related discipline, plus seven years of experience in a management and supervisory capacity.

Sound administrative and supervisory experience at a senior or executive level within local government or the public sector is preferred.
