**Program Manager, Institutional Initiatives**:
**Primary Purpose**: In support of the University’s strategic priorities, the Program Manager, Institutional Initiatives leads and oversees the team of Project Managers who are responsible for implementation and planning of large university-wide projects. The incumbent provides expertise, innovation, leadership and influence in the oversight of project managers. The Program Manager will also lead the renewal and development of administrative processes as part of the University’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) replacement program.

**Nature of Work**: Reporting to the Director, Shared Services, the Program Manager, Institutional Initiatives, leads a team of project managers assigned to USask’s ERP solution in the Vice President, Administrative portfolio in a high-volume, complex and dynamic environment of shifting priorities and continual deadlines. This position establishes programs and procedures for project control, risk analysis and quality in an effort to minimize institutional risk exposure while ensuring optimum utilization of resources.

This position will deal with a complex and demanding portfolio of projects within the ERP program, with competing priorities and deadlines and routinely addresses internal and external complexities impeding the delivery of service.

The Program Manager will report to the Director Shared Services and coordinate with the Associate Vice President, Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, the Associate Vice-President, People, and the Associate Provost, Teaching, Learning and Student Experience (TLSE) to lead and executive USask’s ERP replacement solution. The Program Manager must work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including USask’s executive teams, department managers, IT personnel, and end-users, to ensure the ERP system meets the organization's requirements and objectives. The Program Manager is responsible for the successful implementation of the ERP system within budget, on schedule, and to the satisfaction of stakeholders.

**Key Activities**:

- Provide leadership, training and mentorship to ensure project management best practices are implemented and followed.
- Responsible for the oversight of the portfolio of projects including actions and recommendations made regarding project delivery, scheduling, cost and scope management.
- Continually develop, evaluate and improve standards, practices and procedures to optimize project delivery and change management processes.
- Partake in professional development and review industry and management/leadership information, to stay current with respect to industry best practices.
- Provide appropriate and timely reports as required.

**Leadership & Development**:

- Provide all aspects of leadership to project managers responsible for projects within the program.
- Identify, contribute and lead development of the body of knowledge of project management within the unit.
- Identify key opportunities to develop individuals that will enhance and align their skills and abilities to meet the organizational goals.
- Identify key talent, creating an environment where talent can develop and deliver value added services to clients.
- Support human resource activities and programs to effectively recruit, retain, develop and motivate staff.
- Contribute to a respectful, collegial and productive work and learning environment.
- Positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the university.

**Risk Management**:

- Assess progress against strategic priorities project scope and timelines, assessing where barriers exist and bringing forward recommendations to the Director, Shared Services on how these may be addressed.
- Support the regular reporting process through project and university governance processes and groups.
- Ensure compliance with university policies and regulations, provincial and federal laws and regulations pertaining to the portfolio.
- Ensure all projects align with the strategic direction of the University of Saskatchewan, while also considering external stakeholders, such as the provincial government.

**EDI Accountabilities**:

- Supports actions against discriminatory or racist behavior in our university; contributing to the dismantling of institutional structures, policies and processes that contribute to inequalities faced by marginalized groups.
- Ensures planning and solutions retain Indigenous and EDI priorities, commitments, actions and outcomes.

**ERP Implementation**:
The role of the Program Manager in ERP Implementation is to execute the program and deliver the desired outcomes in an effective and professional manner, ensuring that USask’s infrastructure and services are aligned with, and support, its strategic objectives and mission.
