**About the library**
In keeping with the ambitious vision and core aspirations of Transformation 2030, the University of Ottawa Library advances leading-edge research and supports transformative learning by connecting the uOttawa community to expertise, services, collections and technology in a welcoming and supportive environment.

The University of Ottawa Library consists of three main libraries - the Morisset Library (arts and sciences), the Brian Dickson Law Library and the Health Sciences Library - in addition to a number of specialized research collections. It employs some 150 staff, including 55 librarians, serving students, faculty and staff of the University.

**Purpose of the position**

Provides strategic and tactical communications advice to the University Librarian, Library senior leadership team and Library employees. Conducts ongoing needs assessment to ensure an effective Library communication strategy, recognizing diverse audiences including Library employees, students, faculty, other members of the university community, donors and the community at large. Develops key Library publications and communications tools. Acts as the integrator that ensures that key Library messaging across all channels are consistent, aligned with and serving to advance strategic priorities.

The Communications Advisor will focus on promoting the University of Ottawa Library's Francophonie collections, services and cultural activities, using a variety of communications strategies to engage the university community and other interested stakeholders. The Communications Advisor will be responsible for promoting and facilitating access, beyond simple digitization, to collections related to the francophone heritage of the University, Ontario and Canada. The incumbent will provide direct support and advice to the Associate University Librarian (Strategy, Planning and Assessment) to increase the awareness of Francophonie heritage through special projects planned by the Library for 2024-2025.

**In this role, your responsibilities will include the following**:

- In cooperation with the Library’s senior leadership team and management team, creates and articulates short and long-term communication plans.
- Develops, edits and coordinates publication/dissemination of key Library publications and communications tools including the Library’s annual report, Library news, specialty brochures and other materials targeted at the Library’s diverse user group.
- On major Library projects, acts as facilitator/liaison for all communications between functional teams and senior leadership to ensure that all have the information they need to successfully collaborate and deliver the project.
- Builds strong relationships with library colleagues through regular and frequent project consultations to identify their needs and requirements; this includes personal meetings and group activities, on and off campus.
