**General Description**

**Responsibilities**
- Assist different program areas.
- Run and assist in camp wide events/activities.
- Responsible for maintenance of programming equipment & resources.
- Be an effective role model to campers and This includes but is not limited to:

- Living the vision, mission, and values of Scouts Canada
- Respectful treatment of all campers/staff
- Compliance with all rules/regulations and safety procedures
- Appropriate communication and interactions prior to, during and after camp
- Maintaining a clean & safe work/living environment and general behaviour throughout the employment period
- Displaying enthusiasm for activities, personal cleanliness, dress, speech, manners, and positive relations with campers/staff.
- Always maintaining respectful confidentiality
- Be conversant with campers and the public regarding the camp, camp operations and program opportunities and
- Oversee and provide front line service to campers and staff and parents, vendors and others who contact the
- Be involved in the interview process and provide input into position assignment and roles for staff teams and specialties within the camp structure.
- Ensure that all staff members are trained to the appropriate standards and expectations for the delivery of their responsibilities and participate in all training.
- Work with senior staff to create and maintain an effective work environment for the staff to implement a safe, healthy and challenging program for the campers.
- Work with all senior staff to ensure overall supervision to all staff and ensure any concerns in their implementation of responsibilities are identified. Ensure that the Camp Director is apprised of any concerns with employee performance and provide recommendations for improvement, if required. Work with all senior staff to ensure appropriate recognition to any staff for a job well
- Notify the Camp Director of any concerns that may arise from campers, staff or others and actively participate in the resolution of these concerns
- In collaboration with the Camp Director, lead the Program development and alignment with the Canadian Path components, particularly the Outdoor Adventure Skills and ensure Scouts Canada program quality standards are applied to all activities.
- Work closely with other Senior Staff in developing program components, session plans, weekly schedules and joint
- With Senior Program Staff, conduct weekly site inspections, conduct a weekly program review, and provide highlights and opportunities to Camp Director.
- Implement an equipment inspection protocol and provide input into program supply purchases to ensure current equipment is maintained in proper working condition.
- Understand, prepare for and assist with emergency procedures as needed
- Ensure staff rules and code of conduct are followed
- Assist with the nightly camp shut down activities
- Perform staff bunk checks
- Ensure all camp facilities are kept tidy and in good condition
- Prepare an end of season report including a review and recommendations for the future
- Observe the hours of work and responsibilities as outlined by the Camp Director
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Camp Directors
- On a needs basis, work with the Camp Director to deliver services, program sessions or support, camp operational tasks, and spend time on sites with campers and staff
- Develop, coach and supervise program staff and provide feedback to direct reports (written evaluations required for mid-summer and end of contract).
- With Senior Staff assist with camper check in/out process at camp
- Assist in all other related administrative or operational duties as requested by the Camp
- Provide a final written program report at the conclusion of camp

**Qualifications**
- Minimum: Standard First Aid with CPR Certification, Pleasure Craft Operator Card.
- 3+ years camp experience.
- Must have lifeguard qualifications as defined by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care
- Experienced in developing, coaching, and supervising peer staff.
- Personal Firearms Licence an asset.
- Low Ropes Certification an asset.
- Proven leadership skills with demonstrated appropriate attitude, skills and knowledge for the position.
- Strong communication and human relations skills.
- Completes Scouts Canada screening process including a clear Police Records Check, with Vulnerable sector check and all required training by the date provided by the Camp Director.
- Enthusiastic and energetic.
- Valid Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector search or willing to obtain one (n/a to applicants under the age of 18).
- Successful applicants will be required to complete the Scouts Canada Screening and Training requirement
