ROUND SQUARE REPRESENTATIVE AND

NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCES COORDINATOR

(6 YEAR TERM POSITION)

Reporting to the Director of Student Life and working closely with the Academic Administration team and the LINCWell Department, the Round Square Representative and National and International Experiences Coordinator (“the Coordinator”) oversees and provides leadership for overnight student trips (excluding outdoor education), student exchanges, Grade day trips, and emerging partnerships. The Coordinator will be the School’s link to the Round Square Organization while also overseeing national and international experiences for Grades 7-12. This position is the equivalent of 2-3 courses, is part of a full course load and has a term of six (6) years.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic leadership, management, and promotion of Round Square and national and international experiences programming at St. Clement’s School for students in Grades 7-12;
Meet regularly with staff to coordinate logistics and plan for current and future events and programming, including maintaining an overall calendar;
Lead the Round Square programming; promote the program; recruit for and organize participation of students and staff in Regional, School-based and Round Square International Service projects;
Teach at the middle or senior level; courses will be assigned based on the qualifications and experience of the incumbent;
Design and develop unit plans to deliver curriculum that is challenging, creative, and that creates interdisciplinary and experiential connections;
Provide regular check-ins and updates to the Director of Student Life and the Vice Principal regarding the programs, initiatives, risk mitigation plans, and issues as they arise;
Create and oversee risk management policies and procedures for national and international programming in collaboration with the Director of Student Life;
Schedule, develop, and facilitate professional learning in experiential education and risk management for school staff in collaboration with the Director of Student Life and the Outdoor Education and Local Experiences Coordinator;
Organize SCS’s participation at the annual AGM and International Conference, Round Square Regional Conference of the Americas, and other conferences as required;
Stay current with best practices and developments in experiential education through continued professional development and training;
Create and manage budgets that reflect the needs of the programmes at SCS;
Ensure that all trip participants have the necessary medical and emergency information, and that all required forms and waivers are completed and submitted;
Organization of and participation in trips and activities which fall before and after school hours, on weekends, and occasionally during School holidays; and

Engagement and full participation in the life of the School.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

A post-secondary undergraduate degree, Honours preferred;
Certificate of Qualification and Registration with the OCT;
First Aid and CPR certification;
Passion for, demonstrated commitment to, and taking initiative within the co-curricular program, and full participation in school life;
Extensive experience traveling internationally with students, including risk management;
Strong judgment and decision-making skills;
Strong relationship building skills and an ability to lead and develop people including strong initiative, teamwork, and instructional ability;
Track record of building positive, collaborative relationships with colleagues, parents, and students;
Fluent in equity literacy with the ability to recognize, respond to, and redress conditions that are inequitable, and actively demonstrate commitment to anti-oppression education;
Willingness to travel including leading and attending student trips and applicable conferences and retreats;
Commitment to girls’ education and knowledge of developmental and educational needs;
Demonstrated ability to work and plan in close collaboration with colleagues; and

A record of encouraging, nurturing, and supporting students’ love of learning.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. Involves walking, standing and sitting for extended periods. Must be able to lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
