**WAGERANGE**: $23.26/hr - $29.07/hr

As first-contact customer service representatives, Public Service Clerks are responsible for providing excellent customer service to all members of the community.

This position provides basic circulation, informational and technology support for customers; as well as literacy-based programs and activities to promote library services for all ages.

**PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assists with the provision of services to the public - including circulation, patron registration, provision of information, simple reference, readers' advisory, cash receipts, photocopying, faxing/scanning, computer centre support, and collections maintenance.
- Opens and/or closes the building. May be senior staff in charge in the absence of the Branch Supervisor, e.g. some evenings and Saturday shifts.
- May be responsible for the provision of Outreach (Home Delivery) services, and for overseeing and scheduling program volunteers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Secondary school completion. Post-secondary education preferred.
- Experience providing customer service. Previous library experience is an asset.
- Ability to work with key stakeholders to deliver programs and services.
- Ability to show sensitivity and respect for all customers.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to assess customer needs.
- Strong interpersonal and team-oriented workplace skills.
- Ability to learn new technologies and library computer systems.
