Reporting to the Site Director, the Manager is a key leadership role that is responsible and accountable for direction, team leadership and organization over the activities of the Departments while supporting the vision, mission, and business plan of Alberta Health Services.

**Description**:
The Manager is accountable for the operational management of the ED, IVT-OPD, and Allied Health departments. This role is also an active member of the site leadership team, and has a key responsibility of promoting optimal, safe, and effective patient care. As the ED Manager you will be responsible for providing leadership to an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals dedicated to providing leading care to those in our community. In this leadership position, you will be making key decisions and contributing to the achievements and goals of the department as well as responsible for developing and maintaining a strong working relationship with key stakeholders, facilitating change management and promoting team development. The Manager is also responsible for participating in strategic planning and identifying budget requirements (human, material, and capital resources) in order to safely meet patient needs. The position is also responsible for: establishing and maintaining standards of practice; hiring and developing staff and the management of expenditures and variance analysis of an operational budget. The Manager establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with the site leadership team, site medical leads and other AHS program teams to ensure that quality care is provided.

**Required Qualifications**:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a minimum of 5 years clinical experience, and at least 3 years of experience in a leadership role. Requires strong management and leadership skills. Requires advanced decision making, negotiation, communication and conflict management, analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent writing skills required with ability to respond to short timelines. Proven current clinical nursing skills in selected areas of practice and a solid understanding of quality and patient safety. Proven ability to develop and lead teams. A strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders is also necessary. Demonstrated advocacy for patient and family centered care. Experience in an Emergency Department setting is required.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Certification in ACLS, PALS, and TNCC preferred, as well as advanced preparation in ED or ICU. Equivalencies of education and experience will be considered.
