**Overview**
Join our warm and dynamic childcare team as a Temporary Cook for 3 months Our center is proud to be 100% vegan, and we are seeking a passionate and experienced Cook to prepare delicious, nutritious plant-based meals for our children. You will have the opportunity to create menus that meet Canada’s Food Guide standards while catering to dietary restrictions, cultural preferences, and allergies. In addition to cooking, you'll help maintain a clean, organized kitchen and support our team during busy times. **Duties and Responsibilities**
- Prepare vegan breakfast, lunch, and snacks tailored to children's ages and nutritional needs, adhering to Canada’s Food Guide and considering cultural practices, allergies, and medical conditions.
- Adjust menus for morning/afternoon snacks and lunch as required.
- Ensure health and safety standards in the kitchen are maintained and liaise with Health Inspectors to ensure compliance with Public Health requirements.
- Deliver and collect meal/snack trays to classrooms on schedule.
- Clean kitchen areas after each meal, including dishwashing, sanitizing countertops, and maintaining cleanliness.
- Maintain a consistent meal/snack schedule and prepare utensils, dishes, and serving equipment.
- Order groceries weekly, check all deliveries, and maintain an organized inventory of kitchen supplies.
- Communicate openly with parents regarding children's dietary needs or restrictions.
- Assist with first aid as required and support staff with childcare when necessary to maintain child-staff ratios.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Participate in special events or other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to policies and regulations to ensure a safe work environment and report any hazards promptly.

**Job Requirements**
- **Experience**: Proven experience as a cook in a daycare, school, or similar institutional setting.
- **Vegan Knowledge**: Strong understanding of plant-based nutrition and vegan meal preparation.
- **Food Safety**: Safe Food Handler Certification and adherence to hygiene standards in a childcare kitchen.
- **Child Nutrition**: Familiarity with the nutritional needs of children, accommodating allergies, cultural practices, and creating age-appropriate meals.
- **Certifications**: Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED.
- **Screening**: Vulnerable Sector Screening required
- **Mental and Physical Demands**: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
