Bilingual Benefit and Disability Management Specialist

The key focus of this position is to provide effective and efficient in-house benefit and disability administrative support within a fast paced environment.

This position can be based in any the following office locations; Edmonton, Mississauga or Montreal

**Responsibilities**:
Benefit Administration
- Implement and manage new plan enrollments
- Maintain records of group insurance benefits in relevant system databases and tracking spreadsheets
- Participate in audits
- Assisting with the rollout of program initiatives
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with insurance providers
- Liaise with the insurance carrier representatives and other key stakeholders to provide problem-resolution for members experiencing benefit related issues, when required.
- May be required to assist in leading benefit webinars and other communication tools.
- Perform other functions as required

Disability Administration
- Proactive management of disability claims including situations of a complex nature.
- Communicates with claimants and external partners regarding case adjudication and return to work planning
- Maintains effective working relationships with providers of short term and long term disability products and services related to effective disability case management
- Evaluation of historical claims performance
- Review of internal processes and policies with a view to continuous improvement

Qualifications & Experience
- Bilingual (written and spoken): English and French are required
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma, preference will be given to individuals that have a degree or certification in benefits (ie. Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS)
- Knowledge of group benefits principles and experience with group benefits administration, minimum of 3 years, ideally in a large organization
- Experience with the administration of group short term disability and long term disability administration.
- Experience with US benefits would be considered an asset
- Experience in interpreting benefit plans and documents
- Professionalism and confidentiality
- Initiative to manage multiple demands under pressure in a fast paced, multi-faceted environment
- Superior customer service experience
- Strong communication skills/telephone skills and experience including the ability to effectively manage conflicting or aggressive situations
- Time management / ability to meet time sensitive deadlines
- Must be proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Workday experience would be considered an asset
- Basic mathematical skills and the aptitude to work with numbers to produce accurate calculations
- Strong data entry ability
- Attention to detail
- Reliable and highly organized

Environment/Working Conditions

- Sedentary (100%) - this includes sitting and keyboarding with the ability to take breaks as required
