**OPPORTUNITY**

**Justice Coordinator**

The Yorkton Tribal Council is seeking **one (1)**individual to fill theposition of **Justice Coordinator.** The incumbent will report directly to and receive direction from the Director of Justice.

The individual will be responsible but not limited to the following duties:

- The Justice Coordinator works in the member First Nations of their respective regions.
- The Justice Coordinator is responsible for the community coordination.
- In additional to local community-based coordination the coordinators are responsible for any required local agency or community liaison coordination.
- The Justice Coordinator will also promote and familiarize their respective communities with the various programs, which are currently offered through the Tribal Justice Unit. In this regard their primary responsibility is to increase community capacity and knowledge with respect to specific programming, which will be put forth in proposal submissions to various funding agencies.
- Are responsible for the coordination and development of each respective First Nations’ Justice Committee. With respect to the roles and responsibility of each First Nation Justice Committee, the parameters of each committee may vary, it is essential that these communities are developed along the line’s same general guidelines and criteria.
- The TJU core staffing and especially the Justice Coordinators are responsible for the overall development of criteria and guidelines of YTC Community Based Justice Initiative for the Justice Committees.
- For the purpose of program(s) development the Justice Coordinator will also be responsible for the integration of Tribal Justice Unit programming with that of the First Nations (Bands) programming. This will lead to more effective programming at the Band level as well as at the Tribal Council level.
- Responsible for the maintaining of confidentiality requirements with respect to the delivery of Justice services in their respective areas.
- Responsible for case work in on-reserve alternative measure/extra judicial measures.

**Qualifications**:

- Related experience and/or a university degree/certificate in the field of Human Justice are a requirement.
- Certificate in Victim Offender Medication or Resolving Conflict Constructively would be an asset.
- Must be knowledgeable and have an interest in the Canadian Justice System with regards to First Nation/Aboriginal Justice reform.
- Must have strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Must have knowledge of computers and required software.
- The ability to work independently is a definite requirement.
- Must be willing to travel and must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- Knowledge of First Nations language, culture and social issues would be a definite asset.
