Job Summary:
Markel Canada Limited is a division of Markel International (MINT) which operates in Canada as Lloyd’s Syndicate 3000 underwriting a diverse portfolio of primary and excess casualty, environmental covers, property, E&O and D&O for Canadian clients. MINT underwrites a diverse portfolio of commercial insurance and reinsurance business on a world-wide basis and is a division of Markel Corporation, which markets and underwrites speciality insurance products and programmes to a variety of specialty markets.

The Underwriting Support Team provides a dedicated support service to the business. Our primary focus is to provide a timely and high quality service to the underwriting divisions in Markel, managing and processing written inwards risk information.

Department & role overview
- The Underwriting Support team comprises 17 underwriting assistants in all offices across Canada. The team provides administrative assistance to up to 60 underwriters in all locations.

This includes, but is not limited to, creating references, processing bordereaux, issuing quotations, policy documents and invoices. Timely and efficient administrative support is critical to providing a high-quality service to our underwriters, and ultimately, our brokers and clients.

- Duties and accountabilities
- Underwriting Support
- Complete assignments in a timely and accurate manner. This includes but is not limited to:

- Policy issuance
- Quote & Bind execution
- Bordereaux upload
- Broker of Record changes
- Policy cancellation, extension or mid-term adjustment
- Other underwriting administration tasks as required
- Proactively make suggestions and recommendations for improvement.
- Stay current on all new workflows and UW bulletins
- Understand regional differences and works together to create consistency across Markel Canada.
- Regular communication with Manager/Team re workload and priorities.
- Participate in National Team meetings and relates key information back to UST.
