This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs, which has certain requirements and encourages the hiring of youth with disabilities, Indigenous, Black, and other racialized youth, and youth in the 2SLGBTQI+ community.

**Youth must meet the following criteria**:

- Must be between the ages of 16 and 30, at the time of their start of employment at Archway.
- Must be a Canadian citizen, immigrant with permanent residency status, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
- NOTE: International students are ineligible for this program.

**The Canada Summer Jobs program objectives are to**:

- provide quality experiences for youth;
- respond to national and local priorities to improve access to the labour market for youth who face unique barriers to employment, i.e., youth who are early leavers of high school, not in employment, education or training; Black and other racialized youth; youth with disabilities; Indigenous youth; 2SLGBTQ+ youth, and
- provide opportunities for youth to develop and improve their skills.

**Job Summary**:
The CSJ Starfish Pack Program Assistant, Food Bank, will work with the Starfish Pack Coordinator to oversee the Program including creating and costing food menus for the school and summer Starfish Pack Program. The Program Assistant will also support food distribution activities for Food Bank operations and Archway events.

**Your Role**:
Archway’s CSJ Starfish Pack Program Assistant with the Food Bank contributes by:

- Contacting all Starfish Pack locations to provide support for the Program.
- Drafting communication messages for newsletters and Archway’s website.
- Assisting in registering and onboarding all clients, Starfish Pack locations, and participating schools for the summer Starfish Pack food hampers.
- Working with the Food Bank drivers to ensure distribution of food packages and food hampers.
- Ensuring accurate and timely food orders (quantity and quality) are placed on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
- Assisting in planning and updating the menus for the Back-to-School Starfish Pack Backpack Program for the fall.

**Our Offer**:

- Wage**:$19.00 per hour.
- A full-time position at 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and some Saturdays.
- Temporary for 8 weeks, starting mid to end June 2024.

**Getting an Interview-you will be considered if you have**:

- A diploma in Human Services or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is an asset.
- Experience working in program coordination is an asset.
- Experience working in a position that addresses food security issues is an asset.
- Experience leading and managing volunteers is an asset.

**The Job Requires you to have**:

- A valid Class 5 BC Drivers’ License and satisfactory Driver’s Record.
- Knowledge of the issues, barriers and impacts encompassing food insecurity, homelessness, and housing.
- Well-developed verbal, written, and active listening skills; able to communicate effectively and respectfully with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
- Competency with computers; able to use Microsoft Office365 particularly Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, and virtual meeting platforms.
- Ability to plan, organize, and manage time and meet deadlines.
- Understanding of basic food needs including dietary, cultural, and nutritional requirements.
- The ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- The ability to interact with people in various stages of trauma response.
- The ability to drive and have your own personal vehicle.
