Job Summary

Under the direction of the Manager of the Reception House, the **Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP) Caseworker** is responsible for assisting Government Assisted Refugees (GARs) in their initial process of integration, with a broad base of support and resources, including housing, documentation, and community referrals, using a multidisciplinary case-management approach. The RAP Caseworker will perform other duties, as the organization and the program manager require.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assess and respond to clients’ initial settlement and integration needs.
- Develop and facilitate RAP orientation, Housing workshops, and other basic educational workshops, and activities to orient clients to their new community, Canadian culture, and social norms.

- Refer clients to appropriate community services in relation to specific settlement needs, including housing.
- Accompany clients to appointments, when needed.
- Identify, establish, and maintain working relationships with relevant community stakeholders.
- Liaise and advocate for clients, with community service providers and suppliers
- Accompany clients when moving out of the Reception House and other temporary locations to ensure a smooth transition to permanent accommodation in the community.
- Perform regular follow-ups with clients, by phone, in-person, onsite, or home visits.
- Evaluate client progress at the beginning, middle, and end of the program.
- Maintain accurate service records and program documentation.
- Other duties assigned by the manager

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least two years of experience in a social service setting.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a high degree of cross-cultural competence.
- Experience assessing client needs and providing appropriate service and referrals.
- Knowledge of services and resources available to assist newcomers to Canada.
- Experience facilitating individual and group workshops.
- Skilled at de-escalation, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to perform duties independently and with mínimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to function in a multidisciplinary, culturally diverse workplace.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Fluency in **English, Dari and **Pashtu is require**d. Fluency in other languages is an asset.
