Student Engagement and Activities Facilitator

**Position Summary**
The main purpose of the Student Engagement and Activities Facilitator role at The Kahnawà:ke Survival School (KSS) is to increase the amount of activities offered within the school by creating a very diverse extra curricular activities program that caters to all KSS students, thus creating a healthy outlet for the student body. The increase of student activity programs will help students find a sense of belonging, team spirit and community while simultaneously building self-confidence, increasing mental health and overall wellness.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Responsibility 1**:Management of Extra Curricular Student Engagement Activities at KSS (40%)**
- Review and approve of all extra curricular student engagement activity and event requests for KSS
- Coordinate a variety of after school activities to meet the diverse needs of the students
- To plan and organize various inter-school activities and events to boost student’s confidence, and encourage students to engage and participate
- Coordinate, schedule and main and schedule an annual calendar for extra curricular activities and events
- Process registrations for all activities and events
- Responsible for adherence to the KSS After School Sports Manual by all, including: self, student(s), parents, volunteers, etc.
- Supervision of volunteers and staff who assist with extra curricular activities and events (ECAE) and ensures proper training and coaching levels are met and maintained
- Booking of transportation and securing of facilities to hold extra curricular student engagement activities and events
- Communicates with teachers and other school officials to monitor academic progress of students
- Manage inventory control, purchase of uniforms, and other equipment needed, etc.
- Manages tryouts for extra curricular student engagement activities and events
- Maintaining harmony and equality with other KSS activities and events Coordinate annual year-end awards ceremony.
**Responsibility 2: KSS Representative at External Associations/Federations (20%)**
- GMAA
- Ensures GMAA Governing rule and By-laws are adhered to by coaches, assisting staff and volunteers
- Ensuring GMAA Code of Ethics is completed by each coach and volunteer
- Ensuring registrations are complete and submitted within deadlines
- FLOQ needs and responsibilities
- Adherence to FLOQ Policies and By-laws
- Ensuring all required insurance is active, correct and up to date
- Ensuring coaches have the minimum level coaching certification at all times
- To ensure registrations are complete and submitted within the deadlines
- Official KSS representative at all FLOQ meetings
- FNEC Inter-School Games responsibilities
- KSS representative for FNEC Inter-School Games
- Coordination, registration and logistics for KSS student participation in FNEC Inter-School games
Liaison and networking to build relationships and to actively seek out new opportunities for engagement with regard to ECAE

**Responsibility 3: Promotion (20%)**
- Promotion of KSS ECAE and events to encourage and gain interest from the students through KEC communications, school social media, external media and on-site
- Promote the benefits of ECAE to students with regard to health (physical and mental) and to provide a positive outlook on the programming
- Promotion of KSS ECAE externally to notify the community on activities and events in order to showcase school achievements and assist in increasing a positive view of KSS To advise of activities and events being held, including scheduling, for community to attend and support

**Responsibility 4: Administrative (20%)**
- Maintaining statistics, records and other documentation on ECAE
- Ensures robust quality control of ECAE programming
- Evaluation of programming
- Recommend to the Administration, after research and consultation, the overall ECAE budget and the purchase of all supplies and equipment for school activities and events within that budget.
- Manage, recording, control and requests for funding from the allotted budget for ECAE
- Attend staff training and professional development sessions, as needed**
