The Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre is a dynamic hub in downtown Toronto. It provides opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to be active, learn, connect and participate in a wide range of cultural experiences. Rooted in Jewish values, the MNjcc is open to all.

Founded on this site in state-of-the-ars home to a state-of-the-art Fitness Centre, the Al Green Theatre, four schools, four choirs, a wide range of arts and cultural activities, Jewish Life programming, and a robust Active 55+ program. It is a founding member of the Bloor Street Cultural Corridor.

**Short Description of the Position**:
As an employee of the Miles Nadal JCC, the Athletics Instructor will be reporting to the Manager, Recreational Programming; the Athletics Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality, motivating group Pickleball training. The Athletics Instructor will develop and deliver high-quality, motivating Pickleball programming for members, and will play a customer service role in helping the members of the MNjcc achieve their athletic goals through education and training in a friendly and inclusive setting.

**Changes due to Covid-19 Pandemic**:
While working in person, all existing procedures around vaccination and PPE (personal protective equipment) must be followed.

**Schedule**:

- 1 or more classes per week

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Creating and instructing safe, comprehensive, and energetic lessons within the scope of the participant’s abilities.
- Providing instruction, guidance, and/or demonstration of safe Karate techniques and use of equipment.
- Creating a fun and welcoming environment for all participants.
- Tidying up and/or cleaning equipment after use.
- Educating participants on gym etiquette and sign up procedures.
- Representing the athletics staff in a positive and professional manner at all times.
- Greeting members, smiling, engaging in conversation, answering questions, and assisting with general inquires.
- Building and sustaining relationships with new and existing MNjcc members.
- Responding to and/or assisting with on-site emergencies, incidents and accidents, which may involve the provision of Standard First Aid, CPR, the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and/or the completion of an accident/incident report, when required.
- Attending training, workshops, meetings and seminars as required.
- Understands and adheres to, and enforces MNjcc Policies and Procedures for all staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- A solid understanding of athletic training principles, body movement patterns and the technical aspects of Pickleball training.
- A current, accredited Pickleball certification is preferred
- A current, accredited Tennis or Badminton certification is an advantage
- A current Standard First Aid CPR-C certification or completion of Standard First Aid CPR-C within one month of employment start date (provided by JCC on-site or at an accredited institution at the employee’s expense)
- A Criminal Record Check is a condition of employment for all staff.

**Salary and Benefits**:

- $45+ per hour, based on experience and format taught.
- For the duration of your employment, you are entitled to a membership for yourself, at the MNjcc fitness centre.
- As an hourly employee, you are entitled to two days of paid Personal Emergency Leave each year, and sick leave accrued based on a percentage of hours worked. Any leave after that is unpaid.
