North Bay, Canada NAES CANADA LTD Full time

Located in North Bay, Ontario, the North Bay plant consists of a gas turbine, a steam turbine, and a "once-through" steam generator. The facility has a capacity of approximately 40 MW.

**Opportunity Summary**

Responsible for the implementation of the electrical, instrumentation and control, PM and restoration maintenance programs for the North Bay Power Plant as well as supporting operations and mechanical colleagues in a cross functional team. Responsible to plan, schedule and supervise work in area of responsibility. Carry out all aspects of material selection and inventory management for the facility. Utilizing safe and effective maintenance techniques and practices, your efforts will ensure that the reliability and availability goals of the facility are met.

**Primary Duties**
- Responsible for the performance of maintenance activities in the facility with the highest safety standard and consideration for the environment
- Responsible for maintaining all safety and environmental monitoring equipment in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Understand the inventory system and procedures. Support stocks take as required.
- Support the development of procedures through review of relevant or assigned procedures and recommending changes based on expertise
- Understand the fundamentals of ARS (NERC) standards and fulfill maintenance roles required
- Support the development of standards and procedures for quality assurance in area of expertise and contributes to audits, inspections and assessments for continuous improvement
- Responsible for understanding the chart of accounts and ensuring that transactions are booked against the appropriate account and cost codes
- Support the development of long-range equipment plans by proactively identifying areas for improvement
- Provide operational information and feedback in the planning process of the major maintenance plan
- Take responsibility for an assigned system or area to be managed during planned maintenance outages to ensure necessary work is addressed
- Take pride of ownership of tools used in daily activities and PM work and work to retain usefulness and value of these tools
- Make recommendations to management for improvements in tooling that will provide payback through improved efficiency or effectiveness
- Support the development of risk management practices based on knowledge of equipment history and maintenance findings
- Required to understand and utilize IT systems within the organization and be fully competent with the CMMS and document management systems for normal daily work and historical recordkeeping
- Provide information for internal and external reporting purposes in a timely and concise manner
- Support security through vigilance and report any apparent breaches on a real time basis
- Responsible for achieving the goals defined as part of the incentive compensation targets
- Support the plant team in maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction
- Support plant management in developing and achieving O&M plan targets
- Take accountability for the performance of assigned tasks including the coordination of contractors and suppliers associated with this work. Maintain a good working relationship with sub-contractors and assist management in selecting and qualifying key suppliers.
- Support the development of budgets as required
- Support the development of community relations by living the NAES corporate policies and values daily
- Other related duties as assigned by your Plant Manager

**Physical Requirements and Working Conditions**
- This position requires extended working hours at times, including the potential to work weekends and holidays based on workload and asset conditions.
- All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.

**Required Qualifications**

Possess extensive knowledge and experience in the maintenance of power generation or related industrial equipment and hold one of the following journeyman trade certifications: Instrumentation, Instrument/Electrician, Electrician, Power Electrician.

Successful completion of a medical and background check is required.

**Experience and Attributes**
- Minimum 3 years progressive work experience in power generation or related large industrial facilities
- Experience with machinery inspection, repair, refurbishment and experience with control systems preferred
- Knowledge of the types of equipment installed, derived through combination of hands-on experience and formal training performed in the manufacturer’s factory and/or at the jobsite
- Knowledge and demonstrated ability to safely operate hand and powered tools, test equipment and calibration appliances
- Knowledge and experience with a computer-based maintenance program
- Knowledge and demonstrated ability to order material and carry out warehouse operations
