The Thunder Bay office location specializes in small to mid-sized projects for clients across Canada. The types of clients we work for include:

- Mining
- Heavy Industrial Facilities
- Pipelines and Refineries
- Municipal & Utilities
- Water treatment

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provides leadership and supervisory oversight of E&I design staff.
- Builds upon existing client relationships and pursues new client opportunities.
- Assists, supports and/or directs larger projects.
- Promotes an environment of mentorship and continuous improvement to develop technical staff.
- Plans, assigns, and directs work; appraises performance; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
- Identifies, interviews, hires, orientates and trains employees.
- Communicates clearly and directly with employees concerning performance expectations, productivity, and accountability.
- Responsible for administrative functions including advising on projects and proposals and long-range plans, developing programs and establishing objectives and priorities.
- Responsible for the overall technical and quality output of their department.
- Makes recommendations on the economic, financial and other implications of projects, proposals or plans.
- Manages the daily financial activities of the team, which may include budget preparation and control, accounting, and purchasing. Approves billing and/or payment on contract work.
- Assists the Business Development effort by seeking out and researching prospective project opportunities through correspondence, networking, traveling, and attending conferences.
- Works with divisional and corporate business development professionals in identifying opportunities for expansion in both existing and new business areas.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Minimum 12-15 years of consulting engineering experience is preferred
- Proven ability to effectively manage a group of multi-disciplinary professionals and complex projects under tight schedules.
- Strong business development and proposal preparation skills.
- Proven, successful project management experience.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong working knowledge of P&ID’s, instrumentation and control systems design (PLC/PAC/RTU/DCS/HMI/SCADA), networking, process automation, etc.
- Work experience in Mining, Oil Refining, Oil Sands, Gas, Power Generation and sectors with either an EPC or Operating company is preferred.

**EDUCATION**:

- Bachelor of Applied Science with specific training in electrical and instrumentation engineering
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario

**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**:

- A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. A copy of a valid work permit may be required.
- If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational, and/or credit) and professional reference checks is required. Some Tetra Tech positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.
- Periodic travel within Canada to client sites and regional Tetra Tech offices will be required
- Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing and background checks may be required for our client worksites
- Must be able to adhere to our Office Vaccination & Covid Policies. We will be confirming your eligibility to comply with these requirements.
