**Position Summary**
The Corporate Controller reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and supervises the accounting operations of the company including the production of monthly financial reports and the maintenance of accurate accounting records. The controller oversees a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk and report financial results in a timely and accurate manner.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Oversee the accounting operations including the review of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and treasury functions:
- Manage account payables and receivables in a timely manner.
- Supervise the printing and issuance of cheques and EFT payments to vendors across the companies.
- Monitor cash requirements and upcoming cash needs.
- Develop and maintain effective accounting policies and procedures, ensuring an adequate level of control over company resources:
- Maintain the chart of accounts and an orderly accounting filing system.
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions including segregation of duties.
- Acts as the Subject Matter Expert for financial reporting systems.
- Issue timely and complete financial statements for review by the executive team:
- Create monthly MD&A for financial reporting.
- Design an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives in a cost-effective manner:
- Manage the accounting team including coaching, driving individual and team success, reviewing and enhancing performance, ensuring professional development and fostering inter-company communication.
- Track team KPIs and drive value-added improvements within the team
- Manage related financial corporate needs, such as corporate record filing, reviewing standard legal documentation and collecting signatures; organizing and maintaining the director folders.
- Perform Banking functions:
- Serve as point-of-contact for company bank managers.
- Set-up new bank accounts, complete with security, signing officers, and signature follow-up.
- Ensure current facilities meet business needs.
- Sign and review cheques, ensuring appropriate amounts, approvals and payment terms.
- Complete wire transfers, and FX purchasing when required.
- Manage overall company cash, ensuring inter-company balances are appropriate.
- Perform Tax functions:
- Review PST Exemptions.
- Remain current on tax legislation, changes or impacts.
- Ensure corporate tax deadlines are achieved, and monthly instalments are set-up, if required.
- Complete Full Cycle accounting for director-owned holding companies.
- Perform Miscellaneous functions:
- Review bid estimates for accuracy.
- Maintain and improve operational accounting procedures.
- Provide vacation coverage for team as required.
- Provide financial packages for proposals as required.
- Support annual audit/review process
**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CREDENTIALS**
- Efficient time management, with the ability to prioritize workload.
- Ability to deliver results with little supervision in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated strong ownership and attention to detail.
- Experience working with: Microsoft
- Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- An entrepreneurial, enthusiastic and customer service attitude with emphasis on teamwork, contributing to a friendly, respectful workplace.
- Proven effective consulting skills with an ability to drive impact and deliver meaningful business results.
- A process improvement mindset, with the innovation to recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of services performed.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
**Salary**: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
