- The City of North Vancouver is the urban core of the beautiful North Shore and has a long-term vision to be “The Healthiest Small City in the World”, with five key priorities to be a City for People, a Liveable City, a Vibrant City, a Connected City and a Prosperous City.- The Finance Department is looking for a temporary full time Capital Asset Analyst to join their team until approximately December 2023.**Responsibilities**
- In this position, you will be responsible for complex and technical accounting work in the analysis, development, maintenance and control of the City’s tangible capital asset registry and systems. You will advise Project Managers and asset owners on the planning, review, and analysis of tangible capital asset accounting and amortization practices and identify transactions that impact capital asset valuation; maintain and prepare various asset accounting documentation, reports and records; prepare account reconciliations, journal entries and external audit working papers; liaise with asset owners on City-wide asset management initiatives; participate in the development and implementation of new and updates to existing IT tools; and work with the financial reporting team for the implementation of new Public Sector Accounting Board standards and other statutory requirements as needed.**Requirements**:
- You will have considerable financial analysis experience in a similar position, preferably in municipal government, with knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Board standards. Professional designation (CPA or equivalent) is preferred, although consideration will be given to applicants who have a relevant combination of education and experience. Experience in Infor Public Sector, Crystal Reports, PeopleSoft Financials and Nvision is an asset. You will have the ability to analyze, evaluate and interpret various accounting, purchasing and maintenance management information to determine the impact on tangible capital asset valuation. You will also have the ability to participate in developing, organizing and maintaining a comprehensive tangible capital asset valuation system. You will have thorough knowledge of relevant PSAB standards and other regulations and procedures governing Municipal tangible capital asset valuation and amortization. You will have extensive experience in Microsoft Office, specifically in Excel, and be technically proficient in accounting ERP and other information systems.**Compensation**
- $39.50 - $46.64 per hour- (Pay Grade 25 - January 2021 rates)**Hours of Work**
- The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.**Additional Information**How to Apply**
