Be comfortable working outdoors in a variety of settings (urban, rural and remote), including in inclement weather. Experience in the construction industry or other technical fieldwork would be a strong asset but is not mandatory.
- Have a strong spatial awareness, and an aptitude for creating legible and accurate maps, plans, and diagrams with pencil and paper.
- Be comfortable using simple hand tools and equipment to collect field measurements.
- Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Be a skilled multi-tasker and critical thinker.
- Requirements:_
- Diploma or Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering Technology from an institution within Canada, US or Common Wealth Country
- Valid full driver’s license in Canada with a clean driver’s abstract and personal vehicle (non-negotiable)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency or a valid work permit
- Duties and responsibilities:_
- Collecting and handling soil, groundwater, vapour and surface water samples.
- Conducting environmental monitoring and site inspections
- Wastewater treatment systems monitoring and permitting
- Topographical field GPS and Level surveys
- Recording data and observations in an accurate, legible, well-organized manner.
- Preparing and coordinating subcontractors and equipment for field programs.
- Filing and managing field notes, including some data entry.
- Preparing technical reports summarizing the results of environmental assessments and monitoring activities.
- Surveying (total station and RTK)
- Other duties as assigned
- Conducting Stage 1 and Stage 2 Preliminary Site Investigations
