**Job Summary**

Our Delta, BC location of Zodiac Hurricane Technologies has an immediate opening for Paint Technician for our Paint Shop Department. This position is permanent, full-time working Monday through Friday.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

1 - Surface Preparation
- Clean and prepare surfaces by sanding, scraping, and removing rust, old paint, or other contaminants.
- Use solvents, brushes, and power tools to ensure proper adhesion of coatings.

2 - Coating Application
- Ensure even coverage and thickness of coatings according to specifications.

3 - Material Mixing and Selection
- Mix and prepare coating materials, taking into account environmental conditions and specifications.
- Select appropriate coatings based on the type of surface, environmental exposure, and customer requirements.

4 - Quality Control
- Inspect surfaces for defects and ensure that coatings meet quality standards.

5 - Safety Compliance
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and properly dispose of hazardous materials.

6 - Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including types and quantities of coatings used.
- Complete inspection reports and document any deviations from specifications.

7 - Collaboration
- Work closely with other departments to coordinate painting activities with the overall construction schedule.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and quality control personnel.

8 - Other
- Any other related tasks and/or duties as assigned.

**Qualifications and Requirements**

1 - Experience
- Previous experience as a painter in the shipbuilding or marine industry is highly desirable.

2 - Knowledge
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to ship coatings.

3 - Skills
- Proficiency in using painting tools and equipment.
- Attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality work.

4 - Physical Stamina
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

5 - Certifications
