We are currently searching for a Fibre Splicing Technician to join our team in Port Coquitlam and along the coast of British Columbia. This work would take place in a wide array of environmental conditions and locations (rural and remote), **and on a cable lay boat at times**. In between fieldwork, there will be work in our Port Coquitlam or Campbell River warehouses, helping with a wide array of duties - wiring cabinets, general organization, and preparing material shipments.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Testing fibre optic cables and trouble-shooting deficiencies.
- Installing, programming, testing, repairing & servicing a variety of technical complex low voltage systems.
- Prepping and hanging fibre optic enclosure, cabinets, and related equipment including splicing of single and ribbon cable.
- Preparing and maintaining testing records and preparing test results in report formats for presentation.
- Using fibre tools and fibre optic test equipment including power meter, fusion splicer, VFL, and OTDR.
- Interpreting manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and repair equipment, utilizing knowledge of industry standards and be up to date on current fibre standards & practices.
- Collaborating and coordinating with multiple teams/trades, engineers, technicians, and other project consultants to execute assigned scopes.
- Working in our Port Coquitlam warehouse helping with a wide array of duties including wiring cabinets, general organization, and preparing materials for shipment.
- Operating & maintaining equipment in excellent working order and according to safety guidelines.
- Keeping supplies ready by inventorying stock, requesting quotes, coordinating orders with the Purchasing department and verifying receipt of materials.
- Wiring, configuring and QC checking the cabinets and preparing materials for shipment.
- Working both independently and within a team environment.
- Working in the local warehouse as well as in remote/rural areas in all-weather conditions.
- Other tasks as requested by the Technical Trades Lead or Field/Marine Operations Managers.
- Expert knowledge and proficiency **fiber splicing**:

- a minimum of 2 years experience in fiber optic splicing is required.
- Comfortable working in a wide array of environmental, all-weather conditions, and in remote or rural locations.
- Comfortable with working on a large cable lay boat. Accommodations on the boat are very basic but the food is excellent
- Strong interpersonal skills, keen team participation, and excellent communication skills.
- Willing to travel for approximately two weeks at a time.
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Experience operating small workboats is an asset.
- Self-starter - willing to do what it takes to get the job done well.
- Must be fully vaccinated and provide a valid COVID-19 vaccination record.

**Who will you be working with?  **You will be collaborating with our various departments including Technical Trades, Projects & Permitting, Operations, Environmental, and Construction staff, but reporting directly to our Technical Trades Team Lead. Effective team collaboration and communication skills are required.
