**Code Program Lead***

**Temporary Part-Time (14 hours/week)**

**REPORTS TO**:Supervisor, Community and Prevention Services

The **Code Lead** co-delivers short-term code programs for children that build skills, confidence and encourage interest in STEM fields and pathways. Groups will use Scratch and/or programming languages such as Python. The Lead plans and delivers programs virtually, and in-person as needed, supervises children, maintains a safe environment, and provides consistently well-run and well-organized programs.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Co-deliver Code Programs for school-age children based on the guidelines provided.
- Plan and organize a safe environment and supervise children to protect their safety and personal well-being at all times while in the program.
- Help create and deliver developmentally appropriate code, math, and STEM pathway instruction and learning opportunities as required.
- Assist with effective outreach and recruitment as needed with community partners such as schools, community centres, libraries, etc.
- Implement strategies to effectively engage parents/ families of program participants.
- Organize and deliver registration and info-sharing sessions with families.
- Communicate with families, parents, caregivers and community partners such as schools, community centres, Toronto Public Housing, etc. as required.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate program records such as registration, attendance, evaluations, etc.
- Pick up and deliver snacks as required.
- Work as part of a team.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Graduate of a post-secondary child/youth related field such as Education, Early Childhood Educator, Child and Youth, Social Worker, Psychology, and Computer Science etc. or equivalent experience working with school age children or youth.
- Able to learn programming skills independently using a variety of methods including training videos. Direct experience with programming/ coding is required.
- Capable and confident helping children with math skills from grades 2 through 8.
- Proven track record in using positive, effective strategies to lead activities with groups of children
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective work partnerships with parents/families, colleagues and service providers of diverse backgrounds, abilities and identities.
- Lived experience in the communities we serve.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Ability to prioritize.
- Ability to communicate effectively in more than one language a definite asset.
- Current standard first aid/ CPR Level C certificate is required
- High Five Training is an asset.
- Acceptable Vulnerable Sector Police Reference Check
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle required
- Ability to work evening and weekend hours.
