**WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT WITH FORKLIFT EXPERIENCE**

**Reports To**

Warehouse Manager

**Job Overview**

The Warehouse Assistant will be involved in the overall daily warehouse operations, ensuring inventory is processed, picked, received, organized, and stored and orders are packaged and prepared for delivery. As part of the warehouse team, the Warehouse Assistant will also be responsible for warehouse maintenance keeping a clean and safe working environment and optimizing space utilization.

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Check and inspect goods received against purchase orders and packing slips, ensuring they are of accurate quantity, type, and that the quality of goods received is acceptable.
- Thoroughly inspect the condition of products and parts received, clearly noting any damage, shortage or overage following established procedures.
- Maintain current and accurate receiving purchase order files according to established procedure.
- Prepare and pack outgoing products of finished goods for shipment using most efficient packing materials to ensure damage-free delivery and adhere to all guidelines.
- Kit parts for final assembly.
- Ensure a clean and safe warehouse at all times.
- Ensure workspace is free of debris and remove safety hazards from aisles.
- Move inventory and materials across facilities, sort, organize and store stock safely in the designated location.
- Operate heavy machinery like forklifts to move or store inventory.
- Store surplus assembled parts safely in their correct locations.
- Ensure all parts are labeled and identified correctly.
- Perform inventory cycle counts as required.
- Load and unload trucks, vans and other vehicles.
- Make sure that all inventory processes are completed on the same day.
- Perform other duties as required.

**Qualifications**
- High school diploma or equivalent with minimum 6 months experience in a warehouse environment.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Forklift experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Good computer skills, able to enter data into the company system.
- Knowledge of WHMIS. Ability to observe safety regulations and guidelines, adhere to company’s quality requirements.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment independently as well as part of a team.
- High attention to detail with strong problem solving skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Willing to work overtime at short notice.
- Ability to lift heavy objects.
- Current forklift license an asset.
- Must be able to climb ladders for storing, sorting and organizing stock. Must be able to operate hydraulic lift trucks with loads.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds or more.

**Physical demands and Abilities**:

- Physical ability to stand for long periods and move and lift boxes and materials of up to 15lbs.
- Excellent manual dexterity to put parts together quickly and accurately with great focus.
- Physical stamina with the ability to regularly perform repetitive tasks.
- Good vision abilities, specifically colour vision.

- Documentation - Completes all manual and computerized forms, checklists and documents on time and with attention to detail.
- Organization - Able to set up their workspace in an organized manner so that all required documentation is visible and work can be carried out efficiently and without errors. Keeps work areas neat and organized with required tools on hand and leaves stations and surroundings clear when tasks are completed.
- Shipping/Packing - Excellent knowledge of warehouse packing, shrink wrapping, strapping and labeling procedures, standards, techniques and tools. Thorough understanding of safety procedures while loading and off-loading skids for shipping whether by hand or using pump trucks or forklifts.
- Computer Proficiency - Proficient in computer skills required for daily work processes. Comfortable adapting to the implementation of new technological tools implemented in the department.
- Communication skills - Effective and respectful communication with supervisors, team members and co-workers. Communicates effectively in ways that enhance productivity and builds respectful relationships.
