Your unique skillset and capabilities will help you thrive as our Injury Management Specialist.

In this role, you’ll provide direct assistance to employees who have sustained an occupational injury or illness through the lifecycle of their recovery. You’ll maintain caring and professional working relationships with our employees, their managers, and other key stakeholders to support employees’ recovery to a successful return to work. In year 1, you will:
Administer the Injury Management Program to ensure the accurate and timely provision of Recover at Work initiatives and manage WorkSafeBC (WSBC) claims in accordance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, procedures, and collective agreement provisions.
Process all WSBC claims, including managing incident tasks in Utility Risk Management (URM) system, preparing Form 7’s and dispute/appeal materials. Provide updates on WSBC claims to appropriate stakeholders. Process WSBC appeal notifications and co-ordinate responses with others; provide claims information to WSBC as required.
Learn about our diverse and multi-faceted workforce and establish strong working relationships with employees, management, union representatives, and other internal stakeholders.
Develop, implement, and monitor internal processes focused on individualized recover at work or return to work plans that bridge the gap between the employee’s abilities and their job demands.
Collaborate with management, Occupational Health and Safety partners, health care providers and others to assist in the development of recover at work and/or return to work plans. In year 2, you will:
Educate employees, management, and other key stakeholders about strategies for recover at work, return to work, and effectively managing disabilities.
Support the development of further injury prevention initiatives to advance employee health and safety in the workplace.
Begin jobsite visits for the purpose of completing ergonomic assessments. What it takes:
A diploma or bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, such as disability management, health sciences, kinesiology, and occupational therapy, from a recognized program plus a minimum of three years of recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Designation as a Certified Return to Work Coordinator or a Certified Disability Management Professional is considered an asset.
Demonstrated knowledge of occupational health and disability management principles, including recover at work programs and return to work planning.
Excellent customer service and communication skills while building relationships with employees and developing effective recovery at work and return to work plans.
Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to research, compile, and analyze information to make informed decisions.
A proven ability to exercise judgement, tact, and discretion in preparing, disclosing, and handling information of a confidential and sensitive nature.
