Summer Day Camp Project Manager

Sunset Community Centre is seeking a dynamic and organized Summer Day Camp Project Manager to oversee and implement three diverse summer day camps: Summer Escape Day Camp (ages 6‐12), Creative REMIX Summer Camp (ages 6‐10), and Youth Day Camp (ages 12-16). This is a leadership role with program facilitation responsibilities.

**Responsibilities**
- Manage summer day camp activities, with support from the Recreation Programmer, Community Youth Worker, and Community Arts Programmer
- Manage budgets, create promotional materials, prepare reports and payroll
- Liaise with parents/guardians of summer day camp participants
- Communicate with community centre staff and follow organizational procedures
- Participate in the hiring process of summer day camp leaders
- Plan and implement appropriate training, supervision, leadership, mentorship, and evaluation of day camp supervisors, leaders, and volunteers
- Program and facilitate engaging and meaningful indoor and outdoor activities
- Ensure summer day camp staff and volunteers practice health and safety procedures, assist on out trips

**Qualifications & Experience**
- Experience working in a day camp setting as leader, supervisor, or manager
- Experience working with children and youth ages 5‐18 in a recreational setting
- Excellent communication, leadership, conflict resolution, problem‐solving and interpersonal skills
- Valid First Aid and CPR is mandatory; valid BC Driver’s License and second language is an asset
- Experience with administrative tasks such as payroll, reports, and managing budgets
- Clearance of a Police Record Check

**To be eligible (Canada Summer Jobs), youth must**:

- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the _Immigration and Refugee Protection Act _for the duration of the employment;
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

**Work Schedule**: 40 hours per week. 8-hour shifts ranging between 7:45 am‐5:15 pm, Monday to Friday from July until August, including July 1, 2024. Part‐time planning hours from April until June will be required, which include scheduled City Wide Day Camp trainings and workshops (hours to be negotiated).

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary
Contract length: 2 months

**Salary**: $25.50-$26.50 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week

Work Location: In person
