We are currently recruiting in our Ottawa office for a:
**Claims Analyst in our Directors and Officers Department**

In our Directors and Officers Department, you will work with legal counsel to develop and coordinate defense strategies to bring insurance claims to a prompt and final resolution.

**We will count on you to**:

- Appoint, direct and work with external legal counsel across Canada and the United States to develop and coordinate defense litigation strategies for the prompt and final resolution of claims.
- Review and assess new claims to determine coverage under the applicable insurance contract and take appropriate action.
- Determine and report the liability and damages exposure of the insured in respect of a claim.
- Coordinate and manage claim files including liaison with insureds, brokers, external counsel and internal clients.
- Report to insurance company representatives.
- Some travel may be required.

**What you need to have**:

- 3-4 years of legal work experience and/or legal educational background.
- Effective problem solver and strong analytical skills in order to analyze problems and develop/implement effective solutions.
- Exceptional customer service skills in order to build and maintain relationships with internal and external clients.
- Service oriented professional with a positive attitude and a strong desire to succeed.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively function in a team environment.
- High attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical abilities.
- Sound judgment.
- Strong decision making, organizational and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office.

**What makes you stand out**:

- Fluently bilingual in both official languages preferred.
- Experience in insurance or financial sectors
- A member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario or another provincial equivalent and have chosen to pursue a career outside the traditional practice of law.
