As part of the Public Health Division, the Indigenous Health Policy Branch is responsible for the developing and supporting activities that help improve the health and well-being of Indigenous peoples.

The Branch works to identify and implement innovative solutions to solve complex Indigenous health challenges and policy problems. The Branch works to provide an Indigenous lens to the strategic priorities, legislation, and policy and program development within the Ministry, Alberta Health Services (AHS), and other Government of Alberta Ministries, where appropriate.

The Branch develops, leverages, and strengthens relationships between the Ministry, the federal government (Health Canada, and Indigenous Services Canada - First Nations Inuit Health Branch), AHS, and Indigenous communities to identify and implement collaborative activities to address health inequities between Indigenous peoples and other Albertans.

**Role Responsibilities**:
You will be responsible for leading a small but passionate and engaging team that is responsible for providing leadership, advice, and assistance in the Ministry’s Indigenous health policy, strategy, and engagement efforts, including the identification and analysis of strategic responses for Indigenous issues facing the Ministry and the Government of Alberta (GoA).

The Manager establishes and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Alberta Health Services, the federal government, and Indigenous communities and organizations, to support the development of collaborative strategies and actions to improve Indigenous health outcomes and achieve Ministry priorities.

This position is responsible for developing Alberta Health's policy statements and positions to Indigenous health and will lead and assist in the development of Alberta Health and Government of Alberta to advance key priorities including the Indigenous Modernization of Alberta’s Primary Health Care System.

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Recruitment Standards**
University graduation in a field related to (Public Policy, Public Administration, Indigenous Studies, Political Science or related field), plus four years related experience.

Equivalencies:

- Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.

**Experience**:

- Experience working with Indigenous communities or stakeholders, familiarity with issues affecting Indigenous communities, and a demonstrated awareness of Indigenous cultures is **required**.
- Experience performing stakeholder engagement and formally supervising staff is also** required**.
- Experience developing cabinet packages to support policy changes and/or creating/amending legislation is preferred.
