General Manager

The General Manager will be accountable for the overall performance of Loqui. In this role you will be responsible for driving results aimed at achieving the company’s goals while adhering to company policies and procedures. Cultivating a fun and engaging work environment (that complies with all relevant local laws), and where the guest experience always exceeds expectations are top priorities. Superior leadership, critical forward-thinking planning ability, connecting with the customers, and decision-making skills are vital, and a passion for delivering continual training and coaching in a respectful manner will be necessary. We are looking for someone who takes a genuine pleasure in creating a warm environment for the people you work with and remarkable experiences for our guests.
We are independent owners of a new restaurant in the final stages of completing the construction of our new building in the Riversdale neighbourhood. We will look to use global inspiration to highlight the bounty of Saskatchewan’s farmers and producers. The space is a brand new build from the ground up, with a mid-century modern design and a focus on great food alongside craft cocktails and local beers.

- Continually look to professional development, and assist others in training and offer consistent feedback to employees
- Develop operational strategies in conjunction with the BOH team
- Achieve company targets in sales, quality, service, and cleanliness through training of employees and building a productive and positive work environment
- Deal with employee concerns and execute management performance duties (reviews, disciplinary actions, terminations etc.) in compliance with local legislation
- Assist in developing restaurant marketing, advertising, group events, promotional activities, and possibly entertainment bookings
- Control cash and other receipts using handling and reconciliation procedures
- Review financial statements and prepare financial reports, ensuring they are compliant with local legislation
- Ensure all paperwork: forms, reports, and schedules etc. are all delivered in a timely manner
- Scheduling of the FOH and assistance with BOH scheduling if required in an efficient manner to ensure that all positions are staffed as needed in the most efficient manner
- Deliver the daily pre-shift meeting
- Be available for open dialogue to allow for any employee grievances or concerns: being open minded, accessible, and welcoming of input
- 3 years’ experience with demonstrated success in a comparable role
- Extensive cocktail, beer and wine knowledge is considered an asset
- Well organized with a keen eye for detail and the ability to identify, analyze and provide solutions for problems
- Strong communication skills to develop relationships with employees, vendors, the community, and customers
- An interest in truly helping the community in any way possible is considered an asset
- Strong team player that leads by example
- Practiced leadership skills in a hospitality environment, and able to manage and train a team in respectful manner
- Comfortable with team delegation and holding others accountable for their duties
- Ability to maintain professionalism, control and composure in difficult situations
- Knowledge of applicable employment related legislation
- Able to organize efficient work schedules, delegate tasks and work effectively under pressure
- Possess high professional ethics, and avoid unnecessary conflicts with others
- Able to fluently communicate in verbal (and written) English
- Advanced writing and grammatical proficiency
- Excellent communications skills: written and verbal
