Job Title: Market Site Manager, Peterborough Saturday Farmers' Market

Location: Peterborough, Ontario

Start Date: As soon as possible

End Date: April 2023 with the possibility of extension

10 hours per week, $18.00 per hour

Saturday 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (8 hours)

Mid-week communications and social media - 2 hours per week

The Peterborough Regional Farmers Network is looking to hire an experienced, well-organized and dynamic individual to act as Site Manager for the Peterborough Saturday Farmer’s Market, which runs every Saturday from October to April in the lower level of Peterborough Square.

The site manager is responsible for market set up, overseeing the market’s operation each week, and tearing down/cleaning up at the end of each market day. The other 2 flexible hours will be spent communicating with the market administrator and market steering committee during the week, as well as maintaining the Saturday market social media pages.

- PRFM Site Manager Roles and Responsibilities:

- Organize and maintain a smoothly running market.
- Assist vendors with unloading their products in the morning and loading up at end of day
- Work with market administrator and steering committee to plan stall layout, schedule vendors, and assign vendor sites.
- Manage vendors as per market standards.
- Provide input and ensure compliance with the market Rules and Regulations.
- Address issues and resolve problems during the market season with vendors and/or customers, as per Conflict Transformation Protocol.
- Manage volunteers at the market.
- Implement and promote special events and fundraising at the market with the steering committee.
- Engage in promotional activities.
- Report to the Market Steering Committee Chair, or her/his designate, and provide regular market updates to the Steering committee/Market Administrator.
- Regularly post to the Saturday social media pages (Facebook and Instagram), and work with the market administrator to make creative online content.

Skills and Experience:

- Knowledge of local farming and seasonal produce.
- Customer service experience.
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail, Instagram, Facebook, or willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with various social media platforms, or willingness to learn.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Skilled at managing and transforming conflict.
- Socially confident and friendly, including the ability to communicate well with a wide range of people from various backgrounds.
- Anti-racism + anti-oppression training and/or willingness to participate in this training.

**Salary**: $18.00 per hour
